the dumbest thing I ever heard in my life. It’s nothing but a matter of seeing, and thinking, and interest :-)

Sunset from Cremorne Point using my zoom lens.
Photographed from the Cremorne Point Reserve.
In the foreground is the eastern side of Kirribilli.
And here is 'Wild Thing' by 'The Troggs' (1966). Check out the hilarious, though still rather 'groovy', video clip:

Looking forward to spring, when the green will become the thing again. Fresh and full, not warm, not cold, you can almost hear the forest growing. And birds will sing again. I'm really looking forward to this music...
Nature slowly awaking from tired sleep, like myself. Too long I've slept in depression of doing nothing, there's been no time for creation. To have a job might be a horrible thing sometimes, eating your soul alive. Even over all the money its making, very little is spent on happiness, only the fake one. I wish for things to settle down again so I can walk free in our free world of entanglement...
The Temple Island in Henley-On-Thames is a beautiful little spot tucked away amongst the more exalted bustle of the Henley Regatta. I first caught wind of this place a few years ago when I had been a spectator at the Henley Regatta. Although I wanted to take some shots, there were not a lot of cloud cover to make it worth my while.
As a landscape photographer, everyone would nod their heads in unison that whilst sunny weather is preferred, all sun with little clouds does not really make for some compelling viewing especially at dusk.
So I went back thinking I should be here on other day when the clouds would play ball. Thing is you do not need too much of wind either or your reflection would be shot. So in all, there are a lot of factors that need to come together to get a good photograph of a place. There wasn't much of a wind blowing although there were a lot of boats going backwards and forwards which leaves a big wake every now and then. So you have to time the shot in between such instances.
In all, it was a decent evening's work at the temple island. Midsummer is a good time to be here with the sun setting adjacent to this location.

The Rotterdam Port Authorities informed me that by night the 'thing' illuminates a part of the shore line. On my picture you can hardly see the light component.

I went out for a while to recharge energy after a dense working week and I found someone else looking for the same thing ;)
August 2020
The sun was setting quite fast as we could finally hear the EMDs wind up for their climb away from the Potash plant and head into Bootlegger Canyon.
Pair of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (male L, female R) working a Shag-bark Hickory. They set a trap by pecking a small drill hole into the tree's cambium. Rising tree sap exudes from the hole and attracts insects that the bird returns to feed upon.
Fairly uncommon migrant that passes through this area from about 6 April - 11 May on its way to its northern lower Michigan breeding grounds. Return southern migration occurs 27 August - 27 September.
Usually seen as a single bird. Two at once is rare for me.
You're my other half
You're what makes me me
What makes me smile
When I fall down and can't get back up, get back, get back up
On my feet
Without you here I am boring
Something inside you is triggering
It makes me myself
Makes me funny
You're a beautiful thing
We're a beautiful beautiful thing together.
I dedicate this to the dude who makes me complete.
Happy Valentines friends!!
“It's a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.”
Wild thing
You make my heart sing
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
Oh Beautiful for smoggy skies, insecticided grain,
For strip-mined mountain's majesty above the asphalt plain.
America, America, man sheds his waste on thee,
And hides the pines with billboard signs, from sea to oily sea.

I never did find out on the day what this amazing looking thing was. Just time for a quick shot while I headed for a train after a day of cruising the wonderful Yarra river down to Williamstown and back. It was my first day of using the Canon 70-300 lens I had bought earlier that day.
Here is a link to Google Maps and you can drop down to street view onto the riverside path and have a look from several angles.

I was inspired to go looking for this shot in my archives after looking at an equally whimsical device up in Brisbane posted on the photostream of westernthunderer (John). Looks like it has a similar handle to be turned in order to look at something. I genuinely regret not stopping for long enough to investigate it. Perhaps a Melbournian flickr member might know a little more about it.
(Update - see the comment from Andrew below for a great link for information on this piece of art which is called "Apparatus for Transtemporal Occurrence of Impending Space" )
I spotted this sculpture on Laisvės Alėja in Kaunas, but there was no plaque in sight. Neither Mr. Google nor G.P.T. Chat could crack the mystery of its creator. Honestly, it looks like something straight out of John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) - a true classic!

"every time you kiss me i could cry" she said
"don’t tell me how you miss me
i could die tonight of a broken heart
this loneliness has changed me
we have been too far apart
and it's too late now for me to just forget
i never thought i’d need to feel regret for all i never was
but all this time alone has left me hurt and sad and lost
yeah every time you kiss me i could cry
don't tell me how you miss me
i could die tomorrow of a broken heart
