This particularly truck when down shifting to 4th gear (high to low range) if you didn't double clutch it would scratch the gear, this was the last Scania T Series 3 that my dad drove, and he also was one of the people who teached how to drive the Scanias 3 Series when new drivers entered the company...

Here is a brief history of the T series:

The Rover 200 R8 Series, was introduced in October 1989, as the first new model of the newly privitised Rover Group, , sometimes referred to as the Rover 200 Mk.2. but ulike the Mk 1, Ballade-based, 200, this model was a five-door hatchback designed to replace the Maestro while the saloon variant, called the 400 Series, was effectively the replacement for the previous Rover 200 Series Once again, the model was designed in collaboration with Honda (who produced the new designed-for-Europe Concerto model) and both models would share production lines at Rover's Longbridge facility. The 200 and Concerto itself were based on the 4th generation Civic (EC)

The 200 also saw the introduction of Rover's brand-new K-Series family of engines (appearing in 1.4 L (1396 cc) twin-cam 16-valve form). The 1.6 L (1590 cc) version used either a Honda D16A6 SOHC or D16A8 DOHC powerplant, while the 2.0 L M-Series unit from the 800-series followed soon afterwards (1991) in the sportier versions. Later versions used the Rover T-Series engine, with limited-run turbocharged Rover 220s in GTi and GSi-Turbo trims, and an output of 200 PS. The Rover-engined models drove the front wheels via jointly developed Peugeot/Rover R65 gearboxes (1.4-litre) and Rover PG-1 gearboxes for the 1.6- and 2.0-litre versions. From December 1990, the carburettor-engine 214S (with a 1.4 engine from the Metro) was added to the range, but discontinued within two years due to EEC emmissions requirements. Its gap was filled by the 214i, which featured the 1.4 K-Series unit from the 214Si and 214SLi.,

In the autumn of 1993, the 200 received a mild facelift, featuring redesigned front indicator lights, but unlike its 400 sibling, which was also facelifted at the same time, the car did not feature a new grille (which Rover reintroduced on the 1992 R17 facelift of the Rover 800) or new body coloured bumpers. This led to some owners retro-fitting the 400's new grille on to the 200. In 1993 Rover finally added the new grille and body coloured bumpers to the 200 range.

The Rover 200 Coupé was a two-door coupé, based on the Rover 200 Mark II, with most of the body panels and the bumpers unique in the range. Launched at the 1992 Paris Motorshow, under its project name of Tomcat.

The Rover 200 Coupé was equipped with a specially shaped split glass roof system with a central T-Bar. The twin panels could be tilted or detached independently, and the bar itself could also be removed and stored in the boot in a special protective cover. The glass was an advanced, semi-reflective material, coated with titanium. The lines of the 200 Coupé resulted from a completely new monoside and front and rear roof panels, new front and rear bumpers and a deep front spoiler extension with large intake grille. The interior was finished in burr walnut veneer and quality fabrics, in the Rover traditions of elegance and refinement. Optional leather trim was also available.

A specially developed version of the established 'Torsen' torque-sensing traction control system - previously only applied to four-wheel-drive and some rear-wheel-drive vehicles was developed to optimise handling Standard on the 220 Turbo and optional on the normally aspirated 220 model.

At launch there were three models, the 216 Coupe powered by a 1.6 litre Honda D series engine of 109bhp, the 220 Coupe and 220 Turbo Coupe both with Rover 2.0 T-Series engines;the naturally aspirated car producing 134bhp and the Turbo 197bhp.

In 1994 changes were introduced to the 200 Coupé range, most obviously with a chrome grille being added to bring in line with the rest of the 200 series. Cost saving changes were also seen, such as a reduction in the amount of leather used, ignition barrel light removed and dash light dimming deleted. The alarm system received several changes to keep up with current security requirements.

In 1996 the range was revised Two, all new, models were introduced to replace the previous models. The Coupé 1.6 was now fiited with Rover Group's own K-Series 16 valve double overhead camshaft power unit instead of the previous Honda unit. The 2.0 and Turbo models were replaced by the 1.8 VVC Coupe, which used Rover Group's K-Series engine with the addition of variable valve control as used in MG F with an output of 145 PS (107 kW; 143 bhp), and a top speed of 131mph I(nside interiors were revamped with newer style dials and with an improved alarm system. The interior trim was lightened from the dark Ash Grey to a lighter Picadilly Grey. The 1.6 was fitted with cloth trim in either red or grey centres whilst the VVC came with the leather side bolsters as seen in previous models. All three models had the option of full smokestone leather.

Launched to replace the 220 and Turbo, the VVC Coupé used Rover Group's K-Series engine with the addition of variable valve control as used in MG F The VVC produced 145 PS (107 kW; 143 bhp), reached 131 mph (211 km/h) and a 0-60 mph time of 7.8 seconds, significantly slower than the previous Turbo model.

Born as a 4X2, this beautiful old Scania was imported to Denmark in 2014, but not registered until the following year - this time may well have been spent adding the 3rd axle.

Going up the steep hill leading sw out of Aarhus past Viby and Stautrup. Underpowered and/or heavily loaded trucks often struggle here.

Tip: to locate trucks of particular interest to you, check my collections page, "truck collection" (www.flickr.com/photos/lavulv/collections/72157684190396672/ ) - here you will find all trucks organized in albums, by haulier (with zip-codes), year, brand and country.

Retirement age for trucks: many used trucks are offered for sale on international markets. If sold to a foreign buyer, this will not be listed in the danish motor registry, so a "retired" truck may or may not have been exported. In other words, the "retirement age" only shows the age, at which the truck stopped running on danish license plates.

Auto Pilen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Auto Pilen was a diecast line of model cars made in Ibi, Alicante, in southeastern Spain by Pilen S.A..

Models were produced from the 1970s through the mid-1990s mostly in 1:43 scale.

A majority of the castings were inherited from French Dinky. The company was started in the 1960s, diecasting items like colorful metal sailboats and key chains.

In the late 1980s. Pilen was apparently bought by AHC of the Netherlands."

(...)

"Pilen made at least 50 different models, in the most convoluted story of diecast seconds and recasts of any successful diecast manufacturer (Colleccion Auto Pilen. No date).

Dies were apparently used or copied from a variety of other companies including French Dinky, Corgi Toys, Solido, Mebetoys, Tekno, Politoys (Polistil), and possibly some Mercury models."

(...)

"Pilen's model selection appears taken (whether by direct copying from blueprints or through available dies) from a variety of other producers, especially French Dinky Toys. Some tools from Meccano s.a. were transferred from Calais to Pilen in Spain so the models made by Pilen were Dinky castings – the base plate of which had been modified from MADE IN FRANCE to MADE IN SPAIN. For example, the Talbot/Simca/Chrysler 1100 saloon, Renault 12 saloon, Mercedes 250 coupe, Ferrari P5, Citroën CX Pallas, and Matra-Simca Bagheera were French Dinky castings (Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia). Later versions of these cars, though, did not say Dinky anywhere on the base plates.

So, from 1974 until 1981, several French Dinky Toys passenger cars were made by Pilen.

Bickford says that originally there was an agreement to market the French Dinkys in Spain, but most were sold under the Pilen brand name (Bickford 2009).

The French dies were used, but of course the base plates were altered, hiding that fact. These cars were almost exactly similar to the French dies, but with Pilen's own paint finishes."

(...)

"Auto Pilen also made a line of Matchbox-sized 1/64 scale cars, but these are more rare. Besides a SEAT 131 Wagon, a SEAT Ritmo, a Renault 4F (Van), a Peugeot 504, and a Range Rover – among others – were made but little is known about them."

(...)

"Pilen maintained a close association with other Spanish toy makers also headquartered in Alicante like Joal, Guiloy, Guisval, and Mira."

(...)

"Around 1980 there was a Pilen connection with Holland OTO, which had taken over Dutch Efsi Toys.

A 1980 Auto Pilen catalog shows many of the revered Efsi vehicles like the Model T series and many Efsi trucks continued as a line Pilen 1980 (Bras 2012).

Around 1990, there was also a connection with the Dutch diecast company AHC which appears to have bought Holland Oto and thus Auto Pilen (Bickford 2009). AHC has since shared dies and traditionally Pilen stamped cars can be found in both AHC and Holland OTO labeled boxes (Bickford 2009; Johnson 1998, p. 15)."

(...)

"With the bankruptcy of Doorkey in the early 1990s, Auto Pilen disappeared.

The last new models with the Pilen name appeared at this time.

In its time, Auto-Pilen was the king of the knock-off and die-cast second. Perusal of the model lineup shows castings were copies or closely copied vehicles from several different companies (Collection Auto Pilen).

Models were precisely crafted in a professional and uniform-looking range from leftover castings that had previously been in use elsewhere. Pilen appears to have been the most successful company ever at using second hand castings – yet so very nicely reconfigured."

Peugeot 504

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Peugeot 504 is a mid-size, front-engine, rear wheel drive automobile manufactured and marketed by Peugeot for model years 1968-1983 over a single generation, primarily in four-door sedan and wagon configurations — but also with two-door coupe, convertible and pickup truck variants.

The 504 was noted for its robust body structure, long suspension travel, and torque tube drive shaft — enclosed in a rigid tube attached at each end to the gearbox housing and differential casing, relieving drive train torque reactions. The 504 ultimately achieved widespread popularity in far-flung rough-terrain countries — including Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin, Kenya and Nigeria.

More than three million 504s were manufactured in its European production, with production continuing globally under various licensing arrangements — including 27,000 assembled in Kenya and 425,000 assembled in Nigeria, using knock-down kits — with production extending into 2006.

Having debuted as Peugeot's flagship at the 1968 Paris Salon, the 504 received the 1969 European Car of the Year.

In 2013, the LA Times called it "Africa's workhorse."

The Volkswagen Transporter series, also referred to as the Volkswagen Group T platform series, refers to several generations of motor vehicles from Volkswagen Group, starting with the original Volkswagen Type 2.

These vehicles are traditionally in the light commercial vehicle sector; and comprise vans, minivans, minibuses, pick-ups, campervans, and other derived vehicles, spanning over 60 years of production from 1950. Throughout their generations, they have generally been available worldwide. Its traditional competitors are the Toyota Hiace and Mercedes-Benz Vito.

Though the T1 to T3 generations were named unofficially and retrospectively, the T series is now considered an official Volkswagen Group automotive platform.

The first model o the now famous and cult status Yashica T series cameras. Of course, the fault is on that Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. To be honest, the camera looks suspiciously like a warmed over Yashica Partner, also, imagine the coincidence, fitted with a Tessar type 35/3,5 lens.

The T is very simple, but its simplicity is a great asset. No DX coding, you set the film speed manually, so you can play with forced film speeds. The flash is not automatic, you have to turn it on, great for street photography. Another good thing is that the film is wound only after you have removed your finger from the shutter button. Given the noise it makes, it is a good option!

The viewfinder is simple, but not poorly engineered like the Leica Minilux. You have icons that inform where the camera has focused.

Last, after the little Pentax, we have a synchronized tanslucid lens cover that opens for exposure and then closes when the film is wound. Really cool, as it looks like a skylight filter, just a away to have the Zeiss lens under your eyes!

The 2.0 and Turbo models were replaced by the 1.8 VVC Coupe. The interiors were revamped

Alexander announced a new generation of T Type bodies during the latter part of 1982. The first to arrive was the TE, which was a dual purpose coach, the E denoted express, the next member of the new T Series family, was launched at the 1983 Scottish Motor Show, this being the TC, the letter C denoted coach and the final member of the family was the TS service bus. The first TE dual purpose coaches built were a batch of 20 TE bodied Tigers for the National Bus Company. I was at Carlisle bus station during April 1987 and photographed this Lowland Scottish Alexander TE Leyland Tiger D329 DKS. This Tiger had just entered service that day and looked awesome, just look at that livery, simple, but eye catching. Not forgetting the Leyland scroll badge and Tiger head badge along with the Leyland wheel trims, there is no mistaking that this is Leyland's final big cat. This Tiger was working the 95 service between Carlisle and Galashiels, some 95 services operated to Edinburgh out of Carlisle. These days the service is operated by First Bus.

This Romanian-registered Renault T-series tanker truck, was travelling down the A1(M). The truck was operated by one of the Romanian branches of XPO Logistics, formerly Norbert Dentressangle. The truck and trailer was registered to the Arad county of Romania, situated on the far-western border of Hungary.

Plastic is cheap, why spare on it? This Yashica T3 is big and not particularly beautiful, but at least you do have plenty to hold on to. Looks aside, the Yashica T3 is interesting because it features a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. This is a bit snob, as this lens must have the same performance of the Mju2, but I will shoot a film with it to be sure! Still, this is the only T series having a 2,8 Tessar, the rest was fitted with the 3,5. Perhaps this was just invading too much the Contax T territory?

Well, perhaps, but hardly form the specs point of view. The T3 is a full auto camera, period. You get to choose the flash modes and that's it.

The main technical high light(besides the lens) is that the T3 is a weather proof camera, à la Olympus, which is great news. Another lovely touch is the micro waist level finder on top of the camera. It is really small, but for street photography is just great.
