The whole system including the CDP-X777ES. Next to the Rega is an NS-9100ES DVD/SACD player. For SACD it sounds fantastic. For CD with the video section turned off, it sounds noticeably better than the older 777 and 707 players. Next week I will add a Musical Fidelity V-DAC to the 777 and see how it compares.

LaCrosse Missile System
The difficulty in directing conventional artillery on fortified targets caused great concern during WW II and the Korean War. The Forward Observer needed a large number of rounds to register a gun on such a target, consequently revealing the position of the gun to the enemy.
The M4 LaCrosse Missile System was designed to provide precision fire against enemy pillboxes, blockhouses and similarily constructed strongpoints. It could also be used to attack other enemy targets such as troop concentrations, material and supply lines.
The missile is mounted and transported on a standard 2 1/2-ton truck. It is assembled from its two basic components, and the wings and fins quickly snapped into place. A Forward Observer Team measured the distance to the target, fed this information into a Jeep-mounted computer and the missile was guided to its target by radar signals with pinpoint accuracy.
The missile consists of a solid-fueled rocket motor, four wings and fins, and a choice of three warheads: nuclear, conventional high-explosive and shaped-charge.
The Lance Missile System replaced the LaCrosse Missile System on the battlefield in the 1960's.

A heavy wrecker and a Baynard Co. highway truck are waiting for the control room to shut down traffic in the tunnel so they can cross and get to the disabled Sysco Systems double on the shoulder.
EUTELSAT 7C is a high-power broadcast satellite for markets in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Turkey. It will be located at Eutelsat’s 7° East position, one of Eutelsat’s fastest-growing video neighbourhoods, which already broadcasts over 500 TV channels, and serves anchor clients including Turkish pay-TV platform Digiturk, and Azam TV and Muvi TV platforms in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Ordered from Space Systems Loral, and launching in the second half of 2018, EUTELSAT 7C will be equipped with 44 operational Ku-band transponders.
The new satellite will be copositioned with EUTELSAT 7B, releasing EUTELSAT 7A to another orbital location. This improved two-satellite constellation with enhanced coverage flexibility and connectivity will take the 7° East neighbourhood to a new level.
By almost doubling capacity over Sub-Saharan Africa, from 22 to 42 transponders, EUTELSAT 7C will have room for several hundred additional digital channels to support the region’s fast expanding TV market. It will also be equipped with a beam providing enhanced capacity for government services over Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as a steerable beam that can cover any region visible from 7° East.

For those interested, this is our rain barrel system. We took video to explain it, haven't gotten around to editing it yet.
We have 7-55 gallon barrels all hooked together. They fill at the same time and drain together. We have one spigot to fill watering cans and a pump with another spigot for use with the hose or sprinkler.
There's an overflow as well, they're all hooked together and overflow into the downspout if they're full. We have a clear tube at the end so we can see how much water we have. The system is also easily expandable if we want to add more barrels, we think we can fit 7-10 more across the back of the garage.
One of the best things about this system is the cost. We only spent about $120 for the entire system (including deck). The deck was built with lumber we removed from the deck on our house, we wanted a smaller sized deck on the house. The barrels are food grade plastic barrels and cost us only $10 each (you want to make sure you don't get barrels that had chemicals in them). We spent about $50 on other materials, posts, PVC (we also had some of that sitting around that we used up).
My trip to the Munch Museum on my last day in Oslo took me to the city's excellent, clean, modern and efficient subway system, known as the T-bane.
T-bane is short for tunnelbane. Tunnel means the same in both languages. Bane means "path." One analog is the British "tube." Or, just call it the Metro.

The Mariner Venus Mercury 1973 (Mariner 10) spacecraft was delivered to Florida in the summer of 1973. It was put through a series of system tests in August at what was then known as the System Test Complex, Air Force Eastern Test Range, Cape Kennedy Air Force Station. The photo above shows one of the rooms where computers and recording equipment captured the results of those tests. Gene Brick (foreground) and Noel Burden are shown with the equipment that was shipped to the Cape by truck, along with the spacecraft.
At that time, magnetic tapes like the one held by Brick were used to store data. In the last few decades, thousands of magnetic tapes containing historical spacecraft data were copied to new storage media. The Planetary Data System (PDS) archives and distributes scientific data from NASA planetary missions. The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) is NASA's permanent archive for data from space science missions such as Mariner 10.

The new, revised SERS rifle system! :D Now "SPERS" pronounced like "spurs". Modifications include:
--Changed upper receiver to LAR OPS-4 because of the vastly superior (imo) side charging design. This type of upper is a much better fit for SPERS since it is easier and more ergonomic to use.
--Removed the magnifier to reduce weight since the benefit of 3x zoom is not really great enough to warrant it on a weapon designed for the purpose of light weight and quick shooting. (Perhaps I will mention the G23 magnifier as an optional part of the system in another mockup)
--Changed Carbine variant stock to Vltor IMOD due to the weight ratio with the barrel and the capability for battery storage.
--Changed grip to Magpul MOE grip because of the more basic construction and lack of sometimes abrasive nub on front of grip.

--Changed ad text to better explain the design and theory of the system.
--Improved visual layout of page to improve flow and fill white space. Provides larger image of rifle and uses an efficient infographic to show the variants.

New IBM storage system that they purchase last year from a smaller company. This is a fully solid state system of 20 TB (when fully populated) connecting via Fibre Channel to SVC (or traditional SAN storage configuration). Screaming fast (even faster than traditional SSD or Fusion IO by a few orders of magnitude). Very impressed.

This an illustration of the firing mechanism I implemented in my DX CSWS, called 2DBolt. Main advantage of this system, is that there is more room for the barrel, without making the whole gun longer.
2DBolt:
-2 parts of instead of one are moving
-bolt moves in 2 dimensions (along the 'barrel line' and up/down)
Because of the fragility, system is isolated from the environment - caseless ammo eliminates need for ejection port and magazine with piston (see notes) seal it completely.
Arrows shows the resemblance to a bolt-action system (also, it is possible that 2DBolt is moved with a lever, not with electronics - then the arrows show the moving pattern)

Jacobs technicians, on the Test and Operations Support Contract, check bolt fittings as they practice crane operations with an inert booster rocket segment in the Rotation, Processing and Surge Facility on June 22, 2018, at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Dual cranes are being used to move the segment from vertical to horizontal, a maneuver known as a "breakover rotation." As part of routine processing operations for the agency's Space Launch System (SS) rocket, the RPSF team will receive all of the solid rocket fuel segments for inspection and preparation prior to transporting them to the Vehicle Assembly Building for stacking on the mobile launcher. The Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air route systems on 7 June 1987. The map shows the two route networks six months after Alaska bought Horizon for $68 million in December 1986.
The map is an early example of the concept that was used for the standard Alaska and Horizon map throughout the 1990s, including displaying routes operated by Alaska and Horizon with different colours and denoting connecting cities like half-moon cookies with each half the colour of the airlines’ routes.
For example, here is the Alaska and Horizon route system in 1992 and again in 1999. The dual-colour map was dropped for one without routes in 2000 and an early version of the current map adopted in 2002.
Alaska operated 40 aircraft, including four 727-100s, 21 727-200s, six 737-200s and nine MD-80s, on 7 June 1987, Flightglobal’s Fleet Analyzer shows. Horizon Air operated 46 aircraft, including 10 Bombardier Dash 8-100s, seven Fairchild F-27s, 27 Fairchild Metro IIIs and two Fokker F28-1000s.
