At the rear of me is the Peace Pagoda; This pagoda's foundation stone was laid on 3 November 1972 by Nichidatsu Fujii, and was inaugurated on 1 November 1992. The pagoda was designed by M. Ohka, and it took 36 months for constructing it. It houses the four avatars of Buddha including Maitreya Buddha.
It symbolizes teachings of peace and non-violence.
From 1961 to 1989 the Brandenburg Gate came to symbolize divided Germany, as the Berlin Wall shut off access to the gate for both East and West Germans. It served as the backdrop for U.S. Pres. The Magnolia is one of the flowering shrubs and trees that symbolizes spring. The blooming of the Magnolia with its beautiful and wonderfully fragrant flowers announces spring!

They strongly reduce the cortisol level (cortisol is the stress hormone). The Magnolia is also known as a strong antioxidant.

Goldfinch - Carduelis Carduelis
On closer inspection male goldfinches can often be distinguished by a larger, darker red mask that extends just behind the eye. The shoulder feathers are black whereas they are brown on the hen.In females, the red face does not extend past the eye. The ivory-coloured bill is long and pointed, and the tail is forked. Goldfinches in breeding condition have a white bill, with a greyish or blackish mark at the tip for the rest of the year. Juveniles have a plain head and a greyer back but are unmistakable due to the yellow wing stripe. Birds in central Asia (caniceps group) have a plain grey head behind the red face, lacking the black and white head pattern of European and western Asian birds. Adults moult after the breeding season with some individuals beginning in July and others not completing their moult until November. After moult birds appear less colourful, until the tips of the newly grown feathers wear away.
The goldfinch is native to Europe, North Africa, and western and central Asia. It is found in open, partially wooded lowlands and is a resident in the milder west of its range, but migrates from colder regions. It will also make local movements, even in the west, to escape bad weather. It has been introduced to many areas of the world. It was introduced to Canada, United States, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile, the Falkland Islands, Uruguay, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, in the 19th century, and their populations quickly increased and their range expanded greatly. They now occur from Brisbane to the Eyre Peninsula in Australia, and throughout New Zealand.
Because of the thistle seeds it eats, in Christian symbolism the goldfinch is associated with Christ's Passion and his crown of thorns. The goldfinch, appearing in pictures of the Madonna and Christ child, represents the foreknowledge Jesus and Mary had of the Crucifixion. Examples include the Madonna del cardellino or Madonna of the Goldfinch, painted by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael in about 1505–6, in which John the Baptist offers the goldfinch to Christ in warning of his future. In Barocci's Holy Family a goldfinch is held in the hand of John the Baptist who holds it high out of reach of an interested cat. In Cima da Conegliano's Madonna and Child, a goldfinch flutters in the hand of the Christ child. It is also an emblem of endurance, fruitfulness, and persistence. Because it symbolizes the Passion, the goldfinch is considered a "saviour" bird and may be pictured with the common fly (which represents sin and disease).
The goldfinch is also associated with Saint Jerome and appears in some depictions of him.
They are Christmas flowers, but white poinsettias symbolize a new beginning and a new stage, just like the first blanket of snow of the year that covers the ground today.

Located at the highest point in Helshoven, this floating chapel is the new attraction in the Haspengouw region in Belgium. Artist Frits Jeuris created the chapel from cherry trees. These trees fell prey to the Little Cherry Virus that causes too small fruits. Through this artwork they are given a second life and symbolize the dynamic landscape of Haspengouw. Nothing symbolizes prairies and grasslands like buffalo (or bison). I hoped we could enjoy a view of these magnificent creatures, the largest mammals in North America, but we had visited areas of the park away from the buffalo herd. Finally, as we were about to exit the national park, we encountered two bulls near the road. This one preferred to roll in the dirt, eat grass, and graze. After viewing him for some time through my telephoto lens he eventually grazed into the position of a silhouette against bright morning sunbeams shining parallel to the valley behind.
From the Grasslands National Park website: "Plains bison were re-introduced to Grasslands National Park in December 2005, after 120 years of absence. Prior to European settlement, the prairies were home to tens of millions of free-roaming bison. Bison were both an ecological and cultural keystone species, shaping the grassland landscape through grazing and sustaining the Indigenous peoples that lived on the land. By the 1880's, the large herds that once roamed the Great Plains were driven to the brink of extinction by overhunting. The long process of re-introducing bison to the Canadian wild can be traced back to a few individuals that were captured and raised domestically across North America. In 2005, after consultation with stakeholders, neighbours and specialists, Grasslands National Park welcomed plains bison back to their home."

I use the sculpture in honor of Francesc Ferrer i Guardia (Allela, 1859 - Barcelona, 1909), founder of the Modern School, Sited between the The Palau Nacional and the Olympic Stadium, as symbol of the great values related with the Olympics ideals.
The human torch figure, holding and looking skyward Barcelona, symbolizes the flame of liberty of thought and light provided by the rational knowledge, two of the pillars found in the thought of Ferrer i Guardia. It is a replica of the monument in Brussels, also dedicated to him.

For me no flower symbolizes summer more than the sunflower although it appears at a time when summer is already nearing its end.
