Fourth of Cityscape Art Series…I was working towards a commissioned piece but it did not materialize, instead, this piece called “A City In Flames” came to fruition. Fire symbolizes Creation, Destruction, Transformation. The crow symbolizes transformation and change. They are watchful creatures that have a sharp and powerful foresight.
Piazza Venezia, 00186 Roma RM, Italien.

Piazza Venezia, 00186 Roma RM, Italy.
If you stand in the middle of Piazza Venezia with your back to Via del Corso, you can see the National Monument dedicated to King Vittorio Emanuele II.
The memorial was completed in 1927
It is located on Capitoline Hill at the southern end of Via del Corso between Piazza Venezia and the Roman Forum, next to Trajan's Forum.
In addition to the imposing shape, the massive stairs, the twelve meter high bronze equestrian statue and the eternal fire, which burns in the middle of the stairs in honor of the unknown soldier and is guarded day in and day out by two soldiers, are striking. The top of the monument is crowned by two quadrigas, one symbolizing freedom and the other unity. The monument is intended to commemorate the unification of Italy and honor the Italian state.
According to tradition, the colors of the Ukrainian flag are interpreted as follows: blue symbolizes a clear sky, and yellow - wheat fields.
There is also a religious interpretation: according to it, blue is the power of God, and yellow is faith.
And in the sacred interpretation, blue is water that activates, and yellow is the solar and fiery beginning.
The flagpole is the largest in Ukraine: its height is almost 90 meters, its weight is 32 tons. The size of the flag is 16 by 24 meters.
Like many red flowers, red chrysanthemums symbolize love and passion. If you're looking for blooms for an anniversary or Valentine's Day, take a break from roses and opt for red chrysanthemum flowers
If you are done playing safe with your color and fashion choices here in SL, let’s discuss the Sentintus Taylor Dress in black (aka a “little black dress”) and its symbolization when mixed with other colors.
The LBD is best known for its titillating color. It also radiates confidence and style. It is iconic with a complicated history.
I love the attention to detail that Hazan put into her fashion savvy Taylor Dress. So much so that I decided to have some fun with this dress by styling it with flashy red.
Evidence suggests that the combined colors of black and red may indeed increase attractiveness through different pathways. Studies also show that people display more red and black clothing when meeting a possible mate for the first time.
Flashy colors are now in trend and there’s nothing hotter than black and red together. That said, try on this Sentinus Taylor Dress but don’t forget to read the warning label inside about wearing it with red first.
The Taylor dress comes in structured sets of Black & Red, Black & Green, Black & Pink, Black & Blue, and Black & Yellow.
This Taylor Dress fits: Altmura, Maitreya, Isis, Legacy, Tonic Curvy (+ Fine), Slink Original, Slink Hourglass, and Venus mesh bodies.
The Sentinus Taylor Dress is now available at Swank’s "Wild Spring Event" for March 2023.

The lighthouse symbolizes many things. For me in this image, it is guidance and a warning that danger is near. So, this begs the question as we travel down our spiritual path, who or what is your Lighthouse? In Hinduism and Buddism, the word Atman is a reference to your essential self or soul. So, who guides your Atman or essential self? Happy New Year my friends.
The narcissus is the December birth flower and symbolizes good wishes, faithfulness and respect. The narcissus can often be confused with the daffodil, the birth flower for March, which is a type of narcissus. Although most narcissus flowers are spring flowers, there are several species that bloom in the winter, such as the paperwhite narcissus — making it appropriate as the birth flower for December.
The December birthday flower has a rich history. As a native of the Mediterranean, the narcissus was brought over to Asia where it became widely cultivated in China. From there, the narcissus made its way into Europe via European colonists and eventually made its way into North America. Today, the narcissus is mainly cultivated in Great Britain, Holland, and The Channel Isles.

Iris pallida, the Dalmatian iris or sweet iris, is a hardy flowering perennial plant of the genus Iris, family Iridaceae. It is native to the Dalmatian coast (Croatia) but widely naturalised elsewhere. It is a member of the subgenus Iris, meaning that it is a bearded iris, and grows from a rhizome.
Blue hydrangeas are supposed to symbolize rejection, coldness and frigidity. They really just need an autumn color boost to be hot and sexy!

I shot this because in the language of flowers, a fern can symbolize confidence, the subject this week for my challenge group. But then I find out this is not a fern. It's a lily (???) commonly known as an asparagus fern. Okay.....
Since it is also a repellant to deer, rabbits, squirrels, heat and drought, I guess we can live with that.
See my previous photo of a tulip which also symbolizes confidence in the language of flowers :-)
The purple Iris symbolizes royalty and aristocracy, dignity and respect, peace and harmony, spirituality, power, hope after death, and wisdom.
Four differently coloured beads symbolize four aspects of a personality.

Calgary’s nickname is "Cowtown" as it has a history associated with the Canadian "Wild West" of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The city's flag is a red field featuring the letter "C" adorned with a cowboy hat positioned within the opening of the initial. The cowboy hat is meant to symbolize the people who are residents of Calgary.
When you arrive at Calgary International Airport (YYC), the women and men donning white cowboy hats are the friendly stewards and ambassadors who literally welcome visitors at the terminal and can provide you with any information you need about Calgary.
Today, Cowtown is a major city with nearly 1.3 million people and, despite the nickname, very few cows. 🐮

The Bund has this iconic view of new skyscrapers which may symbolize China of today. The Bund is actually collections of 50 historic buildings from former British Concession on the other side of Huangpu River. The new, ever changing view is only few decades old, starting with the rather kitschy, but unique Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the first large structure in Pudong (the east side of the river) in 1994. Before that, all this area with 5 million people was just farmer fields. This was one of the first of photos I took in China.

As the mix between red’s passion and white’s purity, pink symbolizes love, nurture and compassion. It evokes feelings of comfort, warmth and hope. Pink is also a sign of good health with the phrase “in the pink.” It symbolizes success in the expression that “everything is rosy” and happiness with “tickled pink.”
White and pink Carnations symbolize purity, luck and gratitude.

The Waterpoort in Sneek, Netherlands, is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city. Here's a brief history and details about this architectural gem:
History of the Waterpoort
The Waterpoort (Water Gate) was built in 1613 as part of the city's defenses.
Originally, it served as a gate in the city wall, allowing access by water to Sneek, an important trading and shipping center in Friesland.
The gate is a classic example of Dutch Renaissance architecture, featuring two octagonal towers connected by an arch over the water.
Its distinctive design reflects both defensive and decorative elements, symbolizing the wealth and importance of Sneek during its golden age of trade. (Quelle/source: Internet)
In the language of flowers, daisies symbolize new beginnings and rebirth, in addition to love, cheerfulness, beauty, purity, innocence, hope, fun, and affection. They're also was commonly given to new mothers as a symbol of childbirth and motherhood
The city center is decorated with 5 different varieties of tulips, donated by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Only in the autumn of 2022, 125,000 tulips were planted in Kyiv: on Independence Square, Khreshchatyk, Peizahnaya Alley and in Kyiv parks.
By the way, the project is being implemented on the initiative of the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Amsterdam, Emile de Sevren Jacquet, since 2020. The 100,000 tulips planted at that time symbolized the Heavenly Hundred - the heroes and heroines of the Revolution of Dignity. In this way, it is not the first year that the Dutch support Ukraine in the struggle for its freedom and independence.
Reflections symbolizes for me what has been
They are not real
Not anymore
They might have been nice memories
They might not have been nice memories
They are in my past now
I can dwell with them if I want to learn something from them
I can skip dwelling if I don't find any value in them
If I dwell and do some rethinking it will be like waterdrops in the reflection of my image
Making rings
Making changes in the reflection
I think rethinking, getting the meta perspective, is awsomely fun
Then changes can occur in your life too
The rings you know
They reach far
Future depends on my past and how I dealt with it
So it's important to know that the two belong together
Isn't life really something
I for one enjoy it
I will be quiet for some hours (lol, what a nuisance I am, uploading so many photos, hehe) and enjoy my day
Have a great Saturday you all
And, yes, my photo is an upside down photo, its a reflection for real.
The Sun Voyager is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Sun Voyager is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
In 1986, the district association of the west part of the city funded a competition for a new outdoor sculpture to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city of Reykjavík. Jón Gunnar's Sun Voyager won the competition, and the aluminium model was presented to the city for enlargement. The full-sized Sun Voyager was eventually unveiled on Sæbraut on the birthday of the city of Reykjavík, August 18, 1990.
The work is constructed of quality stainless steel and stands on a circle of granite slabs surrounded by so-called “town-hall concrete”. It was constructed in accordance with Jón Gunnar's enlarged full-scale drawing of Sun Voyager and was overseen by Jón Gunnar's assistant, the artist Kristinn E. Hrafnsson. The engineering of the sculpture was supervised by the technologist, Sigurjón Yngvason, in close cooperation with Jón Gunnar himself, the building itself was carried out by Reynir Hjálmtýsson and his assistant.
In an interview published in the newspaper Þjóðviljinn on 11 June 1987, Jón Gunnar describes the genesis of the work as being part of the Scandinavian art project, Experimental Environment, which conducted various artistic experiments in Iceland, Denmark and other places in the 1980s.
In May 1985, a group of artists, members of the Scandinavian art project, Experimental Environment, gathered to take part in the Saari-Vala Environmental Art Action in Bockholm, Finland. There I experienced a sense of the history of the origins of Icelanders, something which is also related in the present exhibition at the Nordic House in Reykjavík.
I had an uncanny feeling that I had been on this island before, when travelling on my way from Mongolia to Iceland, hundreds of years ago.
As you know, there have been speculations that the Icelanders as a race originated in Mongolia. I have discovered the history of their migration to Iceland, which runs as follows: Many centuries ago, a mighty warlord, let’s say it was Alexander the Great, was living in the centre of the known world. He dispatched his bravest and most experienced warriors, along with some women, scribes and other followers, on an exploratory expedition to the cardinal directions, the north, west, south, and east, in order to discover and conquer new, unknown territories. Those who headed east followed the rising sun until they reached the steppes of Mongolia. There they settled down and lived in comfort. Those scribes who accompanied the warriors were expected to document the expedition for the king. Several centuries later, when the documents written by the scribes eventually came to be examined, the people discovered that they had another fatherland in the west. They therefore decided to gather together their belongings and head back west towards the setting sun. We followed the sun for days and years, walking, riding and sailing. We enriched our experience and our determination grew in strength as our journey progressed, and we recorded everything that we saw and experienced. I remember endless pine forests, mountains and waterfalls, lakes, islands, rivers and seas before we eventually reached the ocean. We then constructed huge ships and sailed on westwards towards the setting sun.
As a result of this vivid experience of my participation in this expedition while on the island of Bockholm in the Finnish archipelago, I carved a picture of a sun ship into a granite rock by the sea. The sun ship symbolizes the promise of new, undiscovered territory. It is also being exhibited here at the Nordic House, made of aluminium.
There has been some dispute about the eventual location of Sun Voyager on Sæbraut in Reykjavík. Some people have complained that the ship does not face west, towards the setting Sun in accordance with the concept behind it. The original intention had been for Sun Voyager to be situated in the west part of Reykjavík, for obvious reasons. Jón Gunnar's original idea had been for the ship to be placed on Landakot hill, the prow facing the centre of Reykjavík and the stern to Christ the King Cathedral (Icelandic: Landakotskirkja). Another possibility was that it could be placed by the harbour in the centre of Reykjavík on a specially constructed base. The coastline by Ánanaust nonetheless eventually came to be Jón Gunnar's preferred location for the ship. Unfortunately, changes in the town planning for Reykjavík came to rule out this location. In the end, the final decision was taken (with Jón Gunnar's consent) that Sun Voyager should be located on Sæbraut on a small headland (which the artist jokingly called Jónsnes: Jón's Peninsula). Jón Gunnar was well aware that when bolted to its platform, Sun Voyager would be facing north, but felt that that made little difference when it came down to it.
Sun Voyager was built in accordance with the artist's hand-drawn full-scale plan. Its irregular form with the ever-flowing lines and poetic movement which are a distinctive feature of so many of his works make it seem as if the ship is floating on air. It reaches out into space in such a way that the sea, the sky and the mind of the observer become part of the work as a whole. As a result, Sun Voyager has the unique quality of being able to carry each and every observer to wherever his/her mind takes him/her. Few of Jón Gunnar's works have a simple obvious interpretation. As he stated himself, all works of art should convey a message that transcends the work itself. It is the observer who bears the eventual responsibility for interpreting the works in his/her own way, thus becoming a participant in the overall creation of the work. Jón Gunnar's works frequently make such demands on the observers, giving them the opportunity to discover new truths as a result of their experience.
A literal mixture of red and yellow, these flowers are a cross-over between the two emotions that yellow and red roses convey, i.e. friendship and love, respectively. The vibrant, cheerful and blazing energy of these flowers also makes them the wild child of the rose family. These fiery blooms will make it extremely easy for you to convey your emotions of fascination as well as passion towards someone.
Cosmos flowers are often used to symbolize order and harmony, due largely to the flower's harmonious petals.
Dipladenia symbolizes overcoming problems and getting out of difficult situations: the plant has the characteristic of growing rapidly and climbing on any material. This peculiarity has always been linked to being able to overcome any problem to come back stronger than before.
Saint Lucy's Day, also called the Feast of Saint Lucy, is a Christian feast day observed on 13 December. In Scandinavia (as late as until the mid 18th century) this date was the longest night of the year, coinciding with Winter Solstice). In Sweden and Swedish-speaking regions of Finland as well in Norway and Denmark, songs are sung and girls dressed as Saint Lucia carry cookies and saffron buns in procession, which symbolizes bringing the Light of Christ into the world's darkness.

From 1961 to 1989 the Brandenburg Gate came to symbolize divided Germany, as the Berlin Wall shut off access to the gate for both East and West Germans. It served as the backdrop for U.S. Pres. Ronald Reagan's famous 1987 speech in which he entreated the Soviet leader, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
The Magnolia is one of the flowering shrubs and trees that symbolizes spring. The blooming of the Magnolia with its beautiful and wonderfully fragrant flowers announces spring!
The Magnolia tree is more than 100 million years old. And originally comes from China. The tree stands for purity. At Buddhist temples, there are Magnolias on either side of the entrance.
Traditionally, the Magnolia has been used in Chinese folk medicine. The leaves contain a lot of Honokiol and Magnolol. Substances that have a stress and anxiety reducing effect. They strongly reduce the cortisol level (cortisol is the stress hormone). The Magnolia is also known as a strong antioxidant.
For the theme "minimalism" . This symbolizes how we like to keep our holidays in the great outdoors. Simple. How I am striving to declutter our home. Then to clear our mind. Even when considering an edit on this ICM image of a sunset, I kept it minimal. Happy Crazy Tuesday! Keep it simple.
I don’t know if it was the face of the soldier seemingly pleading to be taking away from his mortal pains captured in this war dead memorial or just the light I captured it in but it is perhaps the most poignant memorial I have had the pleasure to witness. The statue honors the fallen during the first world war and symbolizes a temple guarded by a lion and lists the names of those that did not return from the battles listed on the sides of the monument.
Italy interestingly started out the start of the first world war in a three way partnership with Germany and the Hapsburgs Austrian-Hungarian Empire but seeing little benefit from this arrangement joined with France and England against its former partners. The long enmity with the Austrians along with the land annexed during those conflicts gave Italy a prize to fight for and a real chance for reclamation of its losses bringing all Italian speaking peoples under one flag.
This shot to me illustrates the main principal I work by when trying to capture the feeling of a new city and that is to walk a lot, though the main sights should be appreciated it is sometimes the sights off the beaten track that I find most interesting. My second guiding principal is my 80/20 rule, meaning that 80% of your best travel shots will come during 20% of the daylight hours It is not always possible for these hours to coincide with your travel but I take great pains to make sure I maximize the golden hours.
I took this on Oct 6th, 2018 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 Lens at 72mm 1/100s f`11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO
