I wish i had time to create something a little more interesting today but i have been preparing for my three course dinner tomorrow all day!
I managed to get a lot done but still have to do a lot and have to work tomorrow morning as well! I hope i get it all done! :)
Found these hard boiled sweets i brought a while back and thought id better use them before they went out of date, i had planned to use them in a ginger bread house by melting them down as the coloured windows, next time perhaps!
The Cedar Waxwing’s sweet tooth is typically met with berries. During winter months, particularly in more temperate places where freezing and thawing occurs regularly, berries may ferment, producing alcohol. Cedar Waxwings are known to occasionally become intoxicated by consuming these treats! The Cedar Waxwing is one of the few North American birds that specializes in eating fruit. It can survive on fruit alone for several months. Brown-headed Cowbirds that are raised in Cedar Waxwing nests typically don’t survive, in part because the cowbird chicks can’t develop on such a high-fruit diet.
A special pigment provides the red, wax-like tips on the secondaries that give the waxwing its name. These colored tips may provide a status symbol during courtship, and they certainly add visual appeal to what is a subtlety-plumaged but beautiful species.
I was in my front yard, when I heard what sounded like a large number of birds in my Sycamore tree. I looked up and saw about 50 or more
of these birds. It was an extremely overcast day with a cold front coming through and they were silhouetted against the dark grey sky. I ad no idea what they were. I took a few shots. This is the only decent one I got. Not great, but good enough to identify them.
This is a first (lifer) for me.

This one was one of my favs, but I was told that the blurry dots were almost dizzying, so it became a runner up. I like it though - the dots on the cupcake and the dots on the background :)
My grandkids forced me into visiting a new old fashioned sweet shop yesterday. Not that I have a sweet tooth or anything! It evoked memories of childhood and we were all remembering our particular favorites. Mine were rhubarb & custard. What were yours?
