Project 52 Week 16

Assignment 52 Week 16 - Sweet Tooth

Photographed in Berlin, Germany

December 24, 2010

Ever a fan of Nutella crepes and After Eight Mints on their own, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try a combination crepe that was on the menu at an outdoor stand at a mini-Christmas Market. So amazing in theory, but in practice, way too sweet, even for someone with an indefatigable sweet tooth like mine. I couldn't even finish it (though I did get most of the way). I think I'll keep the two separate from now on.

Looks sooo tasty on black. Don't believe me? Press (L) to see for yourself :)

My infatuation with Mooncake knows no bound. I suppose that I had simply developed an affinity for red bean during the last year as a vegetarian.

Although the cake in my image does not encompass the imprint of a character conveying "Longevity" or "Harmony," it does feature a floral design which I personally find pleasing to its aesthetic purpose. Traditionally, the mooncake would be consumed during the autumn season to celebrate Lunar worship. Fortunately for me, the local Chinese bakery here in the south bay serves them all day, everyday.

oh these little devils i just cant help my self with red velvet cake, yummy

Its funny and at the same time ironic that you can make a mess with your food when you really don't want to, but when you try to do it on purpose it becomes difficult. I had to make a mess with the ice cream as well as the roulade to get all that on my face :)

This picture and title was inspired by a hilarious episode of Friends.

And how about a sweet cookie? Yes! These are cookies! Orange infused sweet ricotta peach cookies! The names a handful but sure these are little drops of heaven! Good morning, amigos and amigas! Vervet Monkey, shot at Nairobi National Park. This little stole this Mars bar from a bag, then sat on a tree stump and ate it.

I think Dustin Diaz is a fantastic photographer and this shot was inspired by his brilliant style. However, the bokeh is nowhere near as nice as his - there are a few reasons for this which I have listed below with their relevant importance percentage

1) He uses a full frame camera - I use a 1.6 crop camera - 2%

2) He uses premium lenses at f/2.0 or wider - 3%

3) He shoots outside, with the bright city lights providing lots of bokeh opportunities - 5%

4) He is a much better and talented photographer than me - 90%

I love the effort that he puts in to providing set up shots/videos and detailing them out - they are much more useful than a written description.

Back to 365 theme stuff - I wondered whether I should remove the wrapper but I thought the gold wrapping made a nice colour contrast - may be a bit too much of highlights but oh well ... the text in the pic says it all ;)

Lighting: A snooted 430EXII to light the magnum held at arms length above and to the right of the camera; for the bokeh - the orange ones from a couple of street lights and the blue ones from this. Sorry no proper set up shot - details in that link.

Yuuuuuuuummmy!

Came here for my birthday :3

Undeniably amazing creamy (lol) cream puffs! Never had a dessert that left me so speechless.... ESPECIALLY the Spiced Sweet Potato flavour!

Hubby just got back from Laguna Beach in California and brought me home a perfect smattering of fresh salt water taffy : ) There's some really interesting flavors like buttered popcorn, candy corn and pomegranate
