A sweeping staicase at Youngstown State University's McDonough Museum of Art. We were here to attend a presentation on graphic design by my friend RJ Thompson and I had a few moments to take some shots before heading back to New Kensington.

First shot for my April photo-a-day challenge.

The wonderful sweep of a classic staircase in an abandoned trading building. The place had been shuttered and boarded up fairly well so there was not a great deal of light in there.

Gloomy morning to start with when the sun finally breaks on the horizon giving colors to the rather dull sky, reflecting its light while the tide swift in and out.

East Coast Buses is a subsidiary of Lothian Buses and eight new Volvo B5TL / Wright Gemini 3's have joined the team of buses for Service 124, between Edinburgh City and North Berwick.

ECB was launched just over two years ago to provide key transport links to and from the Capital for the residents of East Lothian. In 2017, East Coast Buses carried a massive 3.5 million customers, with year-on-year growth of 30% and this positive trend has continued throughout 2018.

The fleet group for Service 124 is 20001 to 20008 and here is number 20005 (SJ18 NFV) in Princes Street, nearing its journey end at Semple Street.

Behold Edinburgh's mechanical ferris wheel in Princes Street Gardens. It was made in Holland and has 36 enclosed glass pods, illuminated at night by

20,000 lights.

Take a gentle ride on the wheel and enjoy the panoramic sweep of all Edinburgh - the City, the seven hills all around, the Old and New Town with some of the finest architecture in the world. And on a clear day there are breathtaking views over the water to Fife.

I am not an experienced butterfly photographer, so I was particularly thankful when this one paused long enough to give me a chance to take several photos, with and without its wings open. Does anyone know what kind of butterfly this is?

Now I know it's a Painted Lady. See more on Wikipedia.

A little bit of color Street Photography, a little something different this time around.

As the sun began to rise and flood the cloud layer with colour, it seemed to omit a vertical burst of extreme colour, this only lasted a matter of seconds but was awesome to see. Thanks for looking :-)

A very minimalist shot of a staircase in the Liverpool museum of culture.

This was the only moth/butterfly in a huge meadow I found on Wednesday about 20mm wingspan, I thought it would have been full of butterflies................where are they ? lol. I'll be on and off flickr for the next few weeks, got to do some work up on the moors.

Street cleaners working hard to keep Silay City, Philippines clean.

Thought I'd try something a little more minimal.

A surprise on my trip home was the girlfriend asking "any trains you want to see on our drive home?" Well, of course I can route our drive through the Finger Lakes delaying our 16 hour drive even later!

Here we have a nice Sunday edition of the Finger Lakes Railway Geneva-Solvay GS-2 turn, also known as the Sweep seen rolling off the causeway around Cayuga, NY. Gorgeous weather and fall color, what more can you ask?

Gum trees in Australia don’t usually have yellow-coloured trunks like the one in my photo is sporting. The mustardy hue here is due to the nearby road intersection that is illuminated by two sulphur-vapour safety lamps. The arc of white light coming over the hill marks the headlights of a car that is driving towards that same intersection. I captured Jupiter and Saturn making their way up the eastern sky, seen here to the upper-left of the towering tree, standing out prominently against the otherwise unremarkable night sky.

There’s plenty of breathing space in the photo, and that’s what drew me to this particular shot as I scrolled through my Lightroom library tonight, looking for an image to brighten your day. I hope you have a great day, whatever part my photo plays in that experience.

The shot is a single-frame image, captured with my Canon EOS 6D Mk II camera, a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens @ f/1.4, using an exposure time of 13 seconds @ ISO 6400.

In the 1950s, the only method of heating a private home was with an open coal fire, one for each room in the house, so lots of fires and lots of chimneys needed many chimney sweeps to keep them clean.

Continuing to work through my vast collection of one-off films, here's the next entry, a roll of FPP Yeti B&W. Another low-speed specialty motion picture film, Yeti is Eastman 2302 designed for general release printing. It is also useful for making both positive and negative titles. I rather like the results I got with this film!

A sweep of punts chained together for the night and glimpsed through the foliage.

This was taken on Thursday evening while out with a couple of people from the Cambridge Flickr group - then we had beers ;-)

I sweep leaves up almost as regularly as I have my meals!! Each time I get up in the morning and look out into the garden I think "not again!"
