Many thanks Dorota for the link:

Rochester Sweeps Festival :-))

It may be the 2012 event but it gives a good idea

of what the event is all about!!

A Canadian National "Sweep" (switcher/geep hybrid) rests with a sister unit at Hamilton Yard. CN's Pointe St. Charles Shop rebuilt six SW1200RS into SW1200RMs using the long hood (and some related hardware) from retired GP9s. All were stricken from the roster in 2000.

google translate says sweepers while I would say cleaners ... what is the correct term in English ? sweepers sounds weird ;)

... and sweeps it is :) thanks ! ...

A familiar comp, but would have been rude not to shoot it while I was there and the sky was putting on a show

Doesn't anyone tip anymore ?

I kind of like the minimal amount of focus in this shot. The soft bokeh tells the rest of the story.

Chimney sweep is a profession that has a long history and has evolved a lot over time.

This craft born a few centuries ago, it was carried out mostly by children and young people, beggars or orphans, who had to be slender and agile to easily enter the chimney and clean it.

To date, the increasingly frequent use of heating systems such as fireplaces, stoves and boilers fueled by wood biomass unexpectedly creates a return of this figure which in our imagination remains romantic and nostalgic.

Claudio is a living example of how such an ancient job manages to survive today, as he says, “out of necessity, virtue“.

I headed out this weekend to try out a new Benro tripod setup since the previous gitzo suffered a fracture of one of the footings. It feels just as stable and manouverable and costs less than half the price- If it lasts , I know what I will be getting in the future. This image something I've been meaning to try for a while. Long exposure panoramas of water have been problematic for me because of the stitching issues but I tried to get each frame only during high outgoing waves and to my surprise, this worked pretty well!

Perhaps this is the first time that I have shot a closeup of this sweep, but I did have a purpose in mind. I wanted to use this favorite art piece in a couple of Photofox photo editing creations creations. "Not Easily Distracted" is one of them.

It was so sunny when I went for a walk, and from the first pic on my video it took only 10 minutes and it was all grey.

Sliders Sunday 03.10.2021

Chimney sweeps on their rounds are a common sight in Vienna, even in the 21st century! All chimneys must be swept at least once a year and inspections are made quarterly. You can expect to be visited by your local sweeps around Christmas and New Year. They bring a calender and are hoping for a good tip - it's supposed to bring you luck! They are said to enjoy their work - up on the roofs every morning they see many a pretty sunrise! These days women are also taking up the trade.

Do zoom in on the sweeps for a closer view - you get to see their equipment!

Happy Sliders Sunday!

The sunset provided an excellent subdued background for this piece of artwork. Subtle is good, especially in these drama-filled days.

Now THIS is my best render yet. The difference--using blender on my laptop for extra control. It was super easy to set up thanks to the Mecabricks add-on. The biggest benefit was the ability to use Linear ACES color managment. The colors seem much sharper and more in-line with photos of real bricks. The only issue is I couldn't get subsurfs onto the curvier parts, so just don't look too closely at them. (Also, my "studio lighting" setup needs work)

For the build, this is a bit cyberpunky/hibernia-y that I've had sitting around for a bit waiting to be rendered. I used it as a test model because it is a whole lot smaller and simpler than the others I've been posting. The model is based on some concept art from somewhere or someplace. One of those cyberpunk video games maybe, but who's ever heard of those...
