«Η ανάπλαση της παραλιακής ζώνης από την Ύδρα έως το Καμίνι με έργα ηλεκτροφωτισμού, ύδρευσης και πλακοστρώσεις, καθώς και το έργο της επίστρωσης του δρόμου από Μικρό Καμίνι έως το γεφυράκι του Βλυχού, συνολικο ύψους 995.00 ευρώ είναι ακόμη μία φιλόδοξη πρόταση που ελπίζουμε να εξασφαλίσει όλες τις απαραίτητες εγκρίσεις και να υλοποιηθεί το συντομότερο δυνατό.»

WHAT IS THIS UNIQUE AND EXQUISITE FOOTPATH WORTH TO US?

In his speech in Melina Mercouri Hall on 1 April 2007, the Nomarchis of Piraeus announced plans to pave the coastal footpath from Kamini to Vlichos.
“The transformation of the coastal area from Hydra to Kamini with installation of electric lighting, drainage and paving, and also paving [?cement] of the road from Mikro Kamini to the little bridge at Vlichos, total sum 995,000 euros, is another ambitious proposal which we hope can fulfil all the necessary planning consents and can be carried out as soon as possible.”
WE PROTEST…! This must remain an EARTH PATH. It must be maintained, but its natural state must not be changed by PAVING it with stones or cement.

Photo exhibition at the Palais des Nations entitled "Shared Risks, Shared Responsibility: Opportunities for Cooperation".
This photo exhibit is an event to highlight existing practices and opportunities to build disaster resilient communities and nations, as part of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), a ten-year plan endorsed by the General Assembly in 2005 to coordinate country efforts to reduce disaster risk.
It provides visual evidence of how countries are interpreting the HFA principles to reduce risk to protect and advance development, and the need for this important work to be fully integrated into sustainable development initiatives.

On the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, the Rwanda Green Fund and the Development Bank of Rwanda have launched Ireme Invest, a groundbreaking new green investment facility that will support Rwanda’s private sector to access green finance and increase the sector’s contribution to the country’s response to climate change.
Rwanda has set an ambitious climate action agenda to build the country's resilience and foster green growth. To achieve these goals, the country needs investments totaling USD 11 billion. Ireme Invest comes in response to this need by offering a range of financial instruments tailored to meet the needs of Rwanda’s private sector.

BLAYAH TOWN, LIBERIA: Aug. 30, 2017 - The Jogbahn Clan fought against the British-owned company Equatorial Palm Oil (EPO) when they tried to take over their land in 2013. The people in the community depend on the land for their livelihoods. The Sustainable Development Institute (SDI) started to help the community by submitting a formal complaint to the to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). SDI taught the clan about land rights and resisting with non-violence. THE RSPO determined that the land EPO was using belonged to the clan. SGI trained the community how to map their land and boundaries were created that EPO accepted not to cross. Photo by Morgana Wingard

The Ouseburn community farm was created as part of the wider Ouseburn regeneration project. The initiative aims to provide a learning space to teach about animals and the environment. The innovative building design is a model of sustainable construction. The site meanwhile was a former Lead Works (established in 1871) manufacturing white lead for the paint industry. It's an interesting use of space today merging heritage conservation with sustainable development.
