Otis is standing in the midst of pieces from Sally's and my collection of china made for restaurants around 1930's - 1960's; we started collecting in the 1980's when pieces could be found in thrift stores for fifteen cents. The beach glass on the window sill brings back fond memories of time on California beaches, and the other shells are from trips to Sanibel Island (Florida).

Of course Otis, himself, and the cat-feeding station behind him, represent what we love most in our home.

Happy Bench Monday and enjoy the new week!!

Hadley and I started our morning with a dewy walk around one of the golf courses. It was a delightful start to the day. Hope yours was equally nice.

ODC : surrounded by...

This image is a reproduction of a photo of Bow Valley in Banff that I took in 1986 from the summit of Sulfur Mountain. Located in Alberta’s Rockies, Banff is one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations with more than four million people visiting Banff National Park each year. Banff is surrounded by Mount Rundle, Mount Norquay, Cascade Mountain and Sulphur Mountain. Near Banff, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are among the most visited destinations in Canada. Located in the Ten Peaks Valley, Moraine Lake is considered one of the most beautiful glacier lakes in the world. In 1986, I remember vividly sitting on the edge of Moraine Lake and absorbing very slowly the remarkable beauty of this turquoise lake starting to crystallize in early October. It was magical and that special moment had a mystical effect on me!

One petal on this flower reminded me of a heart...hence the the title...One heart surrounded by others, giving it warmth, protection and love...I love the warm colors of this specimen...so rich and vibrant...

Forgot exactly which part of Lofotens Island this was taken.

Misty afternoon, lake and complete silence.. So peaceful

Most people think that shadows follow, precede or surround beings or objects. The truth is that they also surround words, ideas, desires, deeds, impulses and memories.

Wasn't gonna go out

I was gonna stay in

Another Friday night on my own

Then I started drinking

My phone started ringing

I got my shit and walked out the door

Oh every time you cross my mind

I get stupid

Whoa

Don’t overthink it

Just finish up your drink

And surround me, surround me

The night ain’t over

We’re far from being sober

Surround me, surround me

‘Cause I like you, I like you, I like you a lot

How to see through the smoke

I don’t know how you found me, you found me

The night ain’t over

We’re far from being sober

Surround me, surround me

Baby take me outside

Kiss me in the moonlight

I just want you to touch me

I don’t wanna waste no time

You don’t even know me

But I want you to show me

What it feels like to be alive

The lights go down

I want you around me

Whoa

Beautiful flowers!

Cardamine hirsuta, commonly called hairy bittercress, is an annual or biennial member of the mustard family (Brassicaceae), and is edible as a bitter herb. It is common in moist areas around the world. It's native to Europe as far east as the Caucasus, and to North Africa. Plants of this species are usually erect and grow to no more than about 30 centimetres from a stem which is either unbranched or branched near the base. The small white flowers are borne in a raceme without any bracts, soon followed by the seeds and often continuing to flower as the first seeds ripen. 2892
