I think my daughter has a good chance of taking on the role of Dorothy at some point in this life. Halloween, 2010. What kind of amazes me is that when I'm taking pictures of her, she actually poses just like this for me. I really don't need to tell her anything...

Every year on the anniversary marking the end of World War II, the Times Square Alliance invites couples (though strangers would be more appropriate) to come make out in the same spot this nameless couple did just 62 years ago.
"Couples of all ages and from all walks of life were invited to meet in front of the sculpture “Unconditional Surrender”, which was created by acclaimed artist Seward Johnson, memorializing a famous photo snapped by Lieutenant Victor Jorgenson and evoking the iconic LIFE magazine cover photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt.", reported the Alliance website.
Kissers were handed out a sailor cap, roses and... breath mints!
For more, much better pictures, visit the Times Square Alliance website.
For clues that reveal who might have been the passionate nurse and sailor of the picture, read Sewell Chan's article "When a Kiss Isn’t Just a Kiss" in The New New York Times.
This is creepy. And it didn't come out exactly as I wanted. They never do though, right?
Random fact about me: I have a mole on my palm since the day I was born. It's chocolate brown so people always think that I was eating chocolate and I didn't clean my hand properly. I used to hate having it but as I grew older I started loving it day by day. It's one of the things that make me me. :)
Ask me something in my formspring. I'll post the answers here.
'Laying on your holy bed
By the hallowed door
Feeling like an infidel
Not worthy of your call
Tempted by your innocence
Beckoned to my fate
I won't face the consequence
I wouldn't hesitate
I'm a man of flesh and bone
Rapture
Rushing through my veins
Passion
Flaming
In my heart
Heavenly surrender once again'
lyrics by DM - Surrender

This is how Marcus runs at high speed, with his hands held above his head. Once he figures out how to swing his arms side-to-side, he'll really take off!

This shot was taken an the Balanga, Bataan, the site where, on April 9 1942, Maj. Gen. Edward King met with Maj. Gen. Kameichiro Nagano to negotiate the surrender.
The surrender came after a fierce battle lasting 3 days. With 78,000 exhausted, malnourished, sick with malaria and dysentery, Major General King surrendered to the Japanese. It was, and still is, the single largest surrender of U.S. and Philippine Forces ever.
Weldon Hamilton recounts:
"General King got up in front of the troops and said, 'No one surrendered but me. If there's any blame it's mine. I ordered you to surrender. You didn't do anything but take orders.'
"He thought, and we all thought, he might get into trouble. We certainly know from history that Roosevelt said there would be no surrender; McArthur said there'd be no surrender. Wainwright said, but King was in the place. When he got his staff together that last night he asked, 'Can we last 24 hours?'
"They said, 'No.'
"He said, 'Can we do any important damage to the enemy?'
"They said, 'No.'
"He (King) said, "Then I'm going forward and surrendering."
