Tacheles Berlin
Seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren dient die Kunstruine an der Oranienburger Straße der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Plural, international, spröde, politisch und keinesfalls eine geschützte Werkstätte für Kuratoren, steht das Tacheles als Stachel im Fleische des provinziellen Berliner Kunstbetriebs. Kunst ist Wahrnehmung und Reflektion, Kunst ist Geistesarbeit, sie braucht Vagheit, Unsicherheit, Brüche, Ecken und Kanten. Vor allem aber braucht sie Raum. Diesen Raum hat (die KH) das Kunsthaus, größtenteils ohne Förderung durch Politik und Wirtschaft, geöffnet und offen gehalten. Tausende Künstler und Kreative kamen und kommen erstmal in das Tacheles, wenn sie Berlin besuchen oder gar die Absicht haben in der Stadt zu verweilen. Über 30 Ateliers stehen der Kunstproduktion zur Verfügung, statt "Bookshop mit angegliedertem Showroom" (siehe temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin und Kunsthallenunarten anderswo....) lebendige Kunst mit allen ihren Stärken und Schwächen. Vom Kunsthandwerk als Überlebensmittel, über die Philosophie als Denkversuch, bis zur Kunst als Standortfaktor vereint die Kunsthalle Tacheles in sich alles. Berliner Neidgenossenschaften adelten von Anfang an das Projekt zur Avantgarde im klassischen Sinne.
Den Verteilungskämpfen letzt-klassiger Kunstprotagonisten und an Ideenschwund leidenden Wahlkampfberatern zum Trotz erkläre ich das Tacheles zur Kunsthalle Berlin und protestiere gegen jegliche Leistungsschau von Künsten und Kuratoren.... Kultur ist keine Sportveranstaltung.
Mit Lottomillionen kann man sich keine Kulturkompetenz erkaufen aber das Tacheles - nicht für uns, die wir heute hier arbeiten, sondern für die zeitgenössische Kunst, die Mitte Berlins und die tausenden Künstler und Millionen von Besuchern, die auch in Zukunft in die Oranienburger Straße pilgern werden , ob dies den Berliner Kunstplatzhirschen gefällt oder nicht. Bösartig lancierte Gentrificationdebatten, die nur der Ablenkung vom tatsächlichen Volkswirtschaft schädigenden Immobilienspekulantentum dienen, sind genauso abzulehnen, wie eine Politik, die mit periodisch wiederkehrenden Kunsthallendebatten selbst nur schlechte Kunst produziert. "

New York Runners in Support of Staten Island
About: Group of New York area runners who are running and delivering aid on Sunday morning in Staten Island. #SupportStatenIsland
Mission: I am a sports medicine doctor and avid runner and triathlete. Saddened by the events of hurricane Sandy, I decided to help form a group of likeminded runners who are interested in helping others in need.The idea is to run in Staten Island and use our legs to help distribute food and products to those who need help the most.

Now that the NYC marathon is cancelled, let’s put these legs and healthy spirit to good use! We are organizing an impromptu group of NYC marathon runners (and friends) to head over to Staten Island to run and distribute food and helpful items. All levels welcome!
This is a dear friend of mine and her youngest daughter, Krista. Mindy's girls both ride for the Freedom Riders drill team. This just goes to show that drill is a great way to meet people and make great friends. Because of the time involved for practices, competition, grooming, etc., these drill teams couldn't do what they do without the love and support of their family!

The World Cleanup Day is a civic movement, uniting 180 countries and millions of people across the world to clean up the planet. In one day, volunteers and partners worldwide come together to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged waste from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets. This world-changing idea began in the small northern European country of Estonia, in 2008.

What can you do to Support the Writers Strike?
Well you can join our effort to show the Suits at the AMPTP that the fans are more than numbers on a page. We can show them that we are people who take our enterainment more seriously than they do.
Do you buy DVD's based on the company that produced them or the story or stories they tell?
If you buy DVD's for the stories we need your help.
Since the AMPTP don't seem to understand words very well or else they would have given writers a fair deal in the first place. Maybe they would understand pictures better.
So here is the plan.
Take a photo of yourself, your friends, your family, or heck even your pet with your favorite DVD or DVD's in one shot or multiple shots. Include your location and name (optional) in the shot.
Then send the photo to photos4signs@fans4writers.com.
What are we going to do with them, well we are going to create a picture book from them and send it to Each of the Big Six AMPTP corporations, as well as Nick Counter to let them know we are watching. If we get enough photos we may even do a big postcard campaign with the photos.
However, what we need now are your photos. Spread the word far and wide among as many fandoms as you belong too.
Maybe we cannot do a million fan march but we can do a photo barrage that will make it feel like it.
BTW - You can be as creative as you want but try to keep the photos clean.
If you don't have DVD's or you want to do more .... then also take photos in front of your TV (preferablely in front of snow screen or off) holding a sign representing your TV viewage and your support of the writers.

Cafe au Chocolat
Cafe au Chocolat began welcoming customers through its doors in Irongmonger Street in Stamford on Wednesday 30 July 2014.
SKDC's business support scheme helped new business owner Krystyna Szypryt with marketing and staffing advice and also looked at methods of recruitment.
The former Blockbuster video rental shop has been transformed and they hope the high standard of products will add something new to Stamford's long list of coffee shops.
The cafe offers its own blends of coffee as well as handmade crêpes and a wide range of specially-selected dark and milk chocolates you will not find in the supermarket.
Owner, Mrs Szypryt said: "I took voluntary redundancy from my previous job, as owning a coffee shop is something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager."

Masked Up and Supporting Small Business in Downtown Baker City Oregon
Out exploring historic downtown Baker City, Oregon during the summer of COVID.
Baker City, Oregon’s historic downtown is one of the largest and most intact turn of the 20th century downtowns in the Northwest and is surrounded by historic neighborhoods. The downtown has been beautifully restored and revitalized over the years and is a vibrant and bustling district with lots of small locally owned shop. Throughout the year, the downtown hosts a number of festive celebrations and special events.
Even during this COVID Summer, business was brisk with lots of customers both local and visitors wearing masks and strolling the streets and visiting shops in small groups. Business owners have adapted well to the new normal and while working diligently to keep everyone's safety a top priority, seem to be adjusting to the new normal for small businesses in a COVID era
Visitors to downtown will find numerous art galleries throughout Baker City’s historic downtown including the Crossroads Carnegie Art center in the restored Carnegie Library building as well as multiple restaurants and a variety of gourmet and artisan food and spirits. And while shopkeepers are masked up they are visibly happy to greet and wait on customers who are also willing to follow the current CDC guidelines

The Harrisburg Recruiting Company supported the Second Annual Army Strong Tour – Pennsylvania Passing League – East Division tournament June 25 at Susquehanna Township High School in Harrisburg, Pa. This Army STRONG tournament is sponsored by the Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion and The Sports Flash Radio Network. Competing for the title as East champions were 8 schools, providing 9 teams, throughout central and Eastern Pennsylvania. The tournament consisted of 14-man teams participating in 7-on-7 passing competition games. This year’s PPL-East was a double-elimination tournament, guaranteeing each team to play in four games, which culminated in a championship game between Plymouth Whitemarsh “Colonials” and the Susquehanna Township “Indians.” The “Colonials,” who were making their first appearance in the league, took home the title from the host-school “Indians,” 31-18. Recruiters from Harrisburg, Lancaster and Reading Opportunity Centers supported the schools at the tournament by working as game and field managers, and score keepers.
