Elements:
Line: the cracks on the tree act to draw the attention of the viewer towards the tree and emphasising the tree as being weak, so it looks like it needs the wires support more.
Texture: the bark appears cracked, broken and torn giving it the appearance of being old and weak.
Principles:
Unity: the photo has other trees in the background but they are far enough away that it seems as though the tree is standing by itself, so it needs the support of the wire.
Depth of field: The background of the photo is blurred and out of focus making the primary tree stand out more so it seem more by itself.
Contrast: The tree has dark spots that draw the attention of the viewer away from the background of the photo.
Lighting:
The lighting comes in from the side so that it emphasizes the texture and lines on the trees bark, the shadows created by the lighting increase the contrast of the photo
Post Production:
Contrast: the contrast increased the emphasis on the tree and made the shadows and lines stand out more
Saturation: the saturation emphasizes some colour in the tree making it appear more defined
Critique:
Strengths:
-the lighting helps to emphasize the trees texture really well.
-the photos depth of field was executed well to make the tree stand out more in the frame
Area that needs improvement:
-the wire could have followed the rule of thirds a bit better.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Antonius Broek signed a declaration of intentions with U.S. Ambassador Robert Cekuta to launch the “Economic Empowerment for Entrepreneurship and Employment” project, with a total budget of $342,000.
The Declaration emphasized the commitments of the U.S. Government and UNDP to support Azerbaijani partners in their efforts to address gender and youth issues in the country.
The event, organized by UNDP with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), gathered representatives from government agencies, international organizations and development partners.
A minute of silence marked at the beginning of the ceremony in honor of victims in recent Caspian Oil-Rig Fire. Welcoming the participants, UNDP Resident Representative Antonius Broek emphasized that the initiative is fully aligned with the newly-adopted UN Sustainable Development Goals. “Our project will support women and youth by encouraging entrepreneurship and creating decent jobs for better livelihoods and greater gender equality”, he said.
U.S. Ambassador Robert Cekuta noted that “The promotion of women’s participation in the economy and society contributes to a stronger economy and governance, as well as improved quality of life for women, men, families and communities overall.” He also applauded the steps that the Government of Azerbaijan has taken to advance women’s empowerment.
After the ceremony, Robert Cekuta and Antonius Broek answered the questions of journalists.
The purpose of the joint project is to support economic empowerment for women’s entrepreneurship and youth employment through capacity-building activities at a Women’s Resource Center and two Employment Centers in the regions. The joint project will be implemented by UNDP with the support of the American People through USAID in collaboration with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen provide support to a COVID-19 community vaccination clinic hosted by the Virginia Department of Health and Federal Emergency Management Agency April 10, 2021, at the STEM Academy at Campostella, in Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout the day, VNG personnel helped administer vaccines and provided administrative and traffic management support. In support of the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership and expanding bilateral science and technology cooperation, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones traveled to Indonesia and co-chaired the U.S.-Indonesia Science and Technology First Joint Commission Meeting. Her Indonesia co-chair was Deputy Minister Amin Soebandrio, representing RISTEK. In addition to participating in the Joint Commission Meeting, Assistant Secretary Jones visited the Budi Kemulian Hospital to view progress on the $55 million “EMAS” program, observed U.S.-donated TB diagnostic systems in use at the University of Indonesia, met with Indonesian government counterparts, and participated in a panel discussion with Indonesian high-tech entrepreneurs on innovation. BOSTON – The Center for Service Support’s (CSS) domain Sailors of the Year (SOY) and staff visit USS Constitution, Feb. 26, 2025. The SOY candidates are visiting from CSS subcommands to compete for domain SOY. USS Constitution is the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat, and played a crucial role in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812, actively defending sea lanes from 1797 to 1855. The ship earned the nickname of Old Ironsides during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off the ship’s wooden hull. MNBG-E soldiers, Area Support Team Balkans, local national employees and their families celebrated Halloween at Camp Bondsteel Oct. 31. Soldiers dressed up in their costumes throughout the work day with special Halloween displays set up at the dining facility and Post Exchange. Local national employees were also invited to bring their families to the Haunted House organized by the Camp Bondsteel Morale, Welfare and Recreation Committee. The Camp Bondsteel Fire Department also gave the children the opportunity to jump on a fire truck and look at some of their equipment. (WARNING- some photos of the Haunted House may be disturbing)
