sunset in Manila Bay Philippines.
thanks for the visits, invites and comments ..have a nice day my friends !!
Nice sunset over the tamar at high tide. You can see how high it was if you look carefully below the bridge there are two people walking on water but its actually where the water has come over the shoreline.
Happy Windmill Wednesday - taken a few weeks ago - a pale rose sky provided a nice opportune. I have been lax in my weekly posting of wind pumps - but catching up. HWW
Started taking shots of the sunset then the lightning started.
Switched to a longer exposure hoping to get the lightning and managed to fluke a few.
I saw a picture of this location years ago, but didn’t know where it was taken. As I was researching Olympic National Park, I saw the picture again. I was thrilled! Little did I know how far it is, and how long it would take to get there.
This is called Shi Shi Beach, and it’s a long drive from just about anywhere in the park. After the drive, there is the 8 miles round trip hike, through jungle, mud, and sandy beach. To see the fins, you also need to have low tide, and I’ve been told that sometimes sand will wash up, and cover the fins. I waited and waited, till one day, the coastal fog was minimal, and the low tide will occur during sunset. The first mile of the hike was easy, and I was cruising at a good pace, then the mud came... The muddy section of the trail was no joke. It’s about 1 mile long, and absolutely wet and dirty. I saw this kid walking back with just 1 shoe on, and when I asked him if he was ok, he said, sheepishly, yeah… I just lost a shoe in the mud… Make sure to have some waterproof boots! After the muddy section, there's a 2 mile walk along the beach. I ended up walking pass the fins, because I arrived too early and they were still under water. I was getting a bit frantic, because sun was setting, and I couldn’t find a good location (I’m sure many of us have experience this). My final decision was to head back and shoot the rock formations that are in the background, and to my surprise (and relief), the fins were there too!
It was worth the time to hike there though. The waves were pounding, and it was so loud I couldn’t talk to the only other person taking pictures there. We settled for a thumbs up to each other, and kept shooting. By the time I was done, it was 9PM, and I still have a 4-mile hike back to the car. The twilight lasted for a good hour. It was surreal walking in such beautiful light. Then I headed into the jungle for the final 2 miles. It was pitch black, muddy, wet, and creepy. I didn’t get back to the car till 11pm, covered in mud, sweat, and lots of spider web. Still, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Voices, silent now
But, still loudly they shout
Through the fire and dust
Past the fear and the doubt
To those left behind
Pressed down with regret
Keep your eyes on the future.
But, please, never forget
Don’t forget our faces
Never doubt our love
Though your pain continues
Feel our tears from above
And, always remember
Keep us close to your heart
Remember every sunset
Is a new place to start.
Sunset at lake Thingvallavatn.
A vertorama like the last two shots. A stack of two horizontal shots.
I like playing with the unconventional.
And if I succeed you'll notice it ;-)
