Another image from the Dia de los Muertos celebration at the DBG this weekend.
To dispell any illusion that I am responsible for the subject of this photo, I am not. This is actually part of the display at the Botanical Gardens. I just take the pictures.

Personally I couldn't stand laying out under such intense sun, regardless of sunblock. Its just too hot.
Stopping to put on some sunblock, I was impressed by the view eastward over Derwent Reservoir. There seem to be quite a few stretches of fresh water in the north of England with the word Derwent in their names, such as the one west of Sheffield.
Just as the sun was reaching the horizon, a lone cloud drifted in front to block my view. Just then, a large flock of birds came winging by.
There wasn`t much else to use for foreground interest so these just had to do :-)

Little Thana'kha Devotee
The women and children of Burma paint their faces with thana'kha, a sweet scented, straw-colored powder made from the bark and roots of the sandalwood shrub. There is a particular recipe for adding water and making the cosmetic into a moist paste. It is applied with the fingers, and a good deal of skill is required to put on just the right amount. Unpracticed hands often smear on far too much, while on others it is barely visible. The Burmese use thana'kha to call out their beauty and protect it from the harshness of the sun.

Nick and I camped overnight in Canada before crossing the border into NY. The night we arrived, the neighouring underaged drunkards crowded around us, asking about where we were from and where we were headed...I was busy looking (in the dark) for a rock or something to put my bike stand on so my bike wouldn't sink and fall over in the night. When I said, "hey, can someone give me a pop can or a rock?" a girl exclaimed, "Oh my god! It's a girl!"
Proudest moment EVER.
Seems like spf 30 is no longer "Very High". Now it's just "High".
Is there an international convention for this sort of thing?
There ought to be, otherwise we'll end up with things like "I simply can't believe just how high it is"
I love this sink top organizer which makes everything so handy and visible! Plus, it keeps things simple. Not too much muss or fuss. :-)
You can see I like the Aveda products but I also like Dior. The Burt's Bees lip balm supply here is gone, replaced by other Aveda products.
