Between Reality and Beyond, there is only One Step...!

I would even say that their World fits into Ours in an invisible subtlety. . .like the breeze of the wind that we dont see, but that we feel, with sometimes shivers that run through our whole body.

Life is Feeling, Life is Emotion, Life is Sensitivity for those who let their Heart Feel and Guide their Steps...

There are only those who have this exacerbated Sensitivity, who can better than any other, perceive bits of the Invisible of the Beyond.

Happy and Blessed are those who have received this unexpected Grace, even if it's only Once... .

*********************************💖*************************************

Color is a powerful physical, biological, and psychological force. When less color and less intense color is present, trace amounts and subtle differences become highly significant and are strongly felt.

Human subtlety will never devise an invention more beautiful, more simple or more direct than does Nature, because in her inventions nothing is lacking, and nothing is superfluous.

Stay well.

Succulent plants are famous for their wide variety of unusual shapes. One is more curious than the other. Not by chance, many end up receiving affectionate nicknames, which often allude to fictional characters. In this context, scientific names end up being little known by the general public. Today's succulent, popularly called Shrek's ear in Brazil, is a classic example of this interesting diversity of plants with fun names, such as spoon jade, ET's fingers, finger jade and trumpet jade in other parts of the world.

Apparently, these different forms are the result of genetic mutations, commonly observed in cacti and succulents. Frequently, a given species undergoes alterations in its growth pattern, producing cultivars that are completely different in relation to the appearance of the type form.

In the case of the succulent Shrek's ear, the original species is Crassula ovata, whose most famous nickname is the jade plant. Due to genetic alterations that affected the way it grew, this succulent originated a completely different version, as shown in my photo above. It was agreed to call this variety with cylindrical leaves of Crassula ovata 'Gollum'. The ends are flat and marked by a concavity. This atypical shape, combined with its emerald green color, earned the plant the nickname of Shrek's succulent ear.

Both varieties of Crassula ovata, 'Gollum' and 'Hobbit', allude to characters in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. However, despite these subtleties in anatomical diversity, the two forms are often referred to indistinctly as Shrek's succulent ears. In addition, it is not uncommon to observe that the same plant has cylindrical and flattened leaves, simultaneously. Just as mutations that generate crystalline and monstrous forms can occasionally be reverted to the original form, Crassula ovata's 'Gollum' and 'Hobbit' cultivars seem to be somewhat unstable, genetically speaking, in order to coexist and interchange in the same plant. .

In my case, due to a lucky strike, I ended up purchasing a small pot with both varieties simultaneously in the same pot on my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. A gift to myself to remember that moment. There is a wide range of cultivars of the Shrek ear and jade plant available on the market. Some have even been awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society, RHS, the British entity responsible for registering all hybrids and cultivars produced in the world.

The Crassula Ovata Gollum is a succulent native to South Africa and Mozambique. They usually thrive in cooler regions and are a popular houseplant. It is characterized by its long green leaves that have a reddish tinge at their tips. These plants can bloom and have flowers that can either be pink or white and have a star shape. They can grow up to 80 cm or 30 inches. They are evergreen succulents and are often a popular option for bonsai.

The excellent, if slightly Disney-esque, sound and light show at Blenheim Palace.

I have an album of images that I've uploaded, some of which even made it into Explore that I seriously don't like and wish I'd never uploaded. I could of course delete them but I think they serve as a reminder of what I should and shouldn't do. I suspect this LE taken on Blast beach a few weeks back will possibly be a contender for that album in a few weeks time. So to all the lovers of subtlety and good taste, look away now....

A few days ago here in Berlin, it was snowing the whole day, it is currently absolutely freezing here, it's -12°C tonight! The snow had piled up just a little bit on my balcony but this tiny feather somewhere had landed on it. Grabbing my machine with the Raynox on the 55-200mm VR1 I had to go to ground level to get this shot. Initially, thanks to the lack of natural Sunlight, there was no colour, it looked very near monochrome and lifeless; so this where the WB comes into play. "Direct Sunlight" gave this subtle blue/green hue and added a note of winter tonality which was lacking in the original Auto setting. Incandescent was too harsh as was Fluorescent.

The result was this softened and may I say beautiful subtlety of a clean feather on untouched snow, I have another one much more close, which I will post up soon enough. Needless to say, my fingers were frozen!

I hope everyone is well, wishing all a great weekend and so as always thank you! :)

Sometimes nature creates really spectacular moments and often I am totally surprised by them.

It was the same this time. I was at the beach in Nienhagen on the Baltic Sea to photograph the sunset. But a thick band of clouds moved in front of the sun shortly before and the light was gone. So I packed my stuff and headed back to the car.

On the way back, at a point with a clear view of the water, I looked back briefly and was overwhelmed.

Just before the sun reached the horizon, it managed to break through the clouds and greeted me again, blood red, over the waves.

You can't imagine the stress this sight caused. Throw off the backpack, set up the tripod, change the lens and take pictures. All in a maximum of 3 minutes. There was no time to pay attention to photographic subtleties. Such a sun is not waiting for me.

When I finished the first photo, I was able to relax and watch her sink into the sea.

The day could hardly have ended better.

Alles in maximal 3 Mintuten.

I took this a few days ago, when I noticed we had a clear blue sky, finally, no chemtrails for a change, the way the sun light caught through what's left of the seed pods I snapped off a few. Are there any traces of blood on the way? This view simply shows the view from a bridge, here in my village. And even if it looks so empty - there seem to be some on the way ;-)

Selbst in dem Nichts kann man viel entdecken. Wer ist dort gewesen, hier gegangen, getrappelt, vielleicht gehüpft? Kenne ich irgendwen davon? Such ease of production, such abundance of ringing high Gs! But more: Ruffo's infinite subtlety, variety of tone-colour, interpretive insight and sincerity, his magnificent control, stupendous breathing powers, and impeccable phrasing stamped him as a genius."

Both Battistini and Ruffo displayed exceptional vocal agility and control plus the ability to sustain a long legato line.

- dEUS

Taos Pueblo is an amazing place. It is the oldest continuously inhabited community in the US. Although only minutes away from the town of Taos NM, it has incredible presence and connection with the land, and the unperturbed mountains.

This portrays a wonderful, mysterious alleyway I happened upon in the golden afternoon light. A barely visible turquoise blue door peeks through at the far end of the ancient, slanted and narrowing adobe walls - beckoning... waiting...

In all the years I've been fortunate enough to visit New Mexico, this is the first time I've visited the Pueblo - long overdue. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, we hope that it remains as it is today - with a strong connection to the past and future.

Thanks to Jaro who was our guide that day. I hope I can return soon.

(I now see that this is best viewed in a darkened room to see the subtleties in the shadows :)

Sometimes it is the subtitles in the environment (or our lives for that matter) that make the difference. A few clouds in the sky color for a few moments, as they hover over a mountain top. It too had changed color from a somewhat beige to an overall deep grey.

The temperature of the light at sunset is different from that of the day. Colors take on different hues and we quite literally, see things in a new light. Spending time in one area and watching the changes that occur as the light alters, makes for a unique experience. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." (Albert Einstein)
