This was back in June on our trip through Central Oregon. This unique site is waaaaay out in the middle of nowhere. When I finally got there, I was disappointed that there was this blinding white haze hanging from the sky and was afraid all the pictures would be crap. That's what they looked like on the LCD screen. But the haze actually let some of the subtleties of the color variations come out.

Another one in this series and I thought I would make it the full colour version this time I hope you all like it! the top half is the original and the rest is obviously photoshopped but I feel that this is more the direction that I am heading for, making my photography more of an art form than just a straightforward image, some of you may not care for this type of vision but please let me know what you think?

The snout of this creature looks really fluffy ... but is it ultimately rather scratchy, crispy, hard? Like a beard? In any case, it was buried in the snow for a long time – as I could see – and so I couldn't help but pick a few stalks and serve them :-) We didn't get much closer then.

Die Schnute dieser Kreatur sieht ja ganz flauschig aus ... aber ist sie vielleicht letztendlich eher kratzig, knusprig, hart? So wie ein Bart? Jedenfalls wurde sie lange im Schnee vergraben – wie ich beobachten konnte – und so konnte ich es nicht lassen und habe ein paar Halme gepflückt und sie kredenzt :-) Viel näher sind wir uns dann doch nicht gekommen.

This is a pic of a camellia taken on holiday in April this year, processed quite extensively in Affinity and Nik Color Efex. The end result, hopefully, retains some of the complex subtlety of the flower.
I was aiming for a look that was like the way the flower makes me feel.

The cryptically speckled upperparts and finely barred underparts of the Wryneck are breathtakingly beautiful in their subtlety. I photographed this bird searching for food amongst the weeds and grasses that border the shingle at Lepe.

When you live in China you are obliged to have a Chinese name. This was mine, carefully chosen by a staff member: “Han Bai Ling” and shown on the Chinese side of my business card. As names go, it was often admired for its elegance and poetry, though I think its subtleties were lost on me as a foreigner uneducated in Chinese language and tradition.
My staff had this chop made for me when I left Beijing, a souvenir of my 4 years there.
The traditional Chinese characters (read from right to left) as follows:
Han 韓 (a common Chinese surname)
Bai 柏 (cypress)
Ling 靈 (spirit/soul)

My very first outing with my new toy a few months ago, the Medium format Fuji, and shot straight into a searing sun. It may appear that the highlights are shot to pieces, but it's not even close to clipping the highlights in LR. Single shot, no filters, just a big 'in your face' sun. Subtlety doesn't get a look in, that's reality for you.

Taken on a recent trip to Pembrokeshire, I rose early to try and capture a seascape. I had read that there were some wonderful sea stacks in Pembrokeshire, The Green Bridge of Wales being one.
I arrived before sunrise after driving through the Castlemartin army tank training area, and parked along the Pembroke Costal Path. The sea stacks are fantastic, and I captured this scene as the sun rose above the bridge. I don't usually take sunrises directly, I'm normally pointing my camera in the opposite direction, but this image works for me? I'm not sure if it's the subtlety of the sunrise, or the bright sea, darkening as it nears the viewer?
I have not exposure stacked this picture, I worked on the highlights, slightly under-exposing them, and then pulled up (brightened) the shadows in post. In-fact, I just took a few exposures and then through trial- and-error worked on which exposure was the easiest to recover in post. I've never liked the look of HDR photos and often struggle with both exposure and focus stacking - something I need to learn - but then modern digital cameras, even a crop sensor in the Fujifilm X-T4, have such huge dynamic range, you often don't need to exposure stack.
I like this scene, even though it is very Instagram-esq, it's calming and a change from what I have been capturing since starting photography two years ago.
... oh, and there were four Choughs (Raven like birds with red beaks and legs) in the parking lot on my return. It's my understanding they are quite rare but are recovering/breeding well in the area?

I would even say that their World fits into Ours in an invisible subtlety. . .like the breeze of the wind that we dont see, but that we feel, with sometimes shivers that run through our whole body.
Life is Feeling, Life is Emotion, Life is Sensitivity for those who let their Heart Feel and Guide their Steps...
There are only those who have this exacerbated Sensitivity, who can better than any other, perceive bits of the Invisible of the Beyond.
Happy and Blessed are those who have received this unexpected Grace, even if it's only Once... .

je dirais même que leur Monde s'imbrique dans le Nôtre dans une subtilité invisible . . .comme la brise du vent que nous ne voyons pas, mais que nous ressentons, avec parfois des frissons qui nous parcourent tout le corps.
La Vie est Sentir, la Vie est Emotion, la Vie est Sensibilité pour qui, laisse son Coeur Ressentir et Guider ses Pas ...
Il n'y a que ceux qui ont cette Sensibilité exacerbée, qui peuvent mieux que tout autre, percevoir des bribes de l'Invisible de l'Au- Delà.
Bienheureux et Bénis sont ceux qui ont reçu cette Grâce inopinée ... même si ce n'est qu'Une Seule Fois ... .
