Trent Barton Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse 712 - FJ58 KKD is pictured in Derby bus station on the swift to Ashbourne & Uttoxeter covering for a branded vehicle.

Stagecoach in South Wales Service X24 (Blaenavon-Pontypool-Cwmbran-Newport) is one of Cwmbran depot's key routes, and until very recently, was operated by 14 Alexander Dennis Enviro300s new in late 2010. With a peak vehicle requirement of 12, it has been unusual since then to see any other type of vehicle on the service (bar Summer 2012), other than one of the depot's Alexander Dennis Enviro300-bodied Scanias.

Therefore, it came as a very pleasant surprise to see Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10M 20390 covering a diagram in February 2012, and I managed to capture her in Clarence Street, Pontypool, when returning to Newport.

She spent her latter years based at Cwmbran, usually found on the Severnside services. She was the only member of the R- DHB batch to retain her original grey, orange and red moquette dual purpose seats and these were transferred to sister 20392 in 2013 when she received 'white and stripes' heritage livery. 20390 made the one way journey to Abba Scrap in Dowlais in February 2014.

Class 121 'Bubble Car' 55032, with 'bull horns' up front, forms the 10:45 Leeming Bar to Redmire service near Aiskew on Thursday 9th August 2018.

Stagecoach in South Wales holds the Powys County Council contract for Service T4 (Newtown-Llandrindod Wells-Builth Wells-Brecon-Merthyr Tydfil), which is extended to Pontypridd and Cardiff on a commercial basis. Since the closure of Brecon outstation in December 2021, the service is operated entirely by its Merthyr Tydfil parent depot, which entails quite a bit of dead running on certain vehicle diagrams.

Twelve 12m MCV eVoRa-bodied Volvo B8RLEs (21351-62) were received in 2019 and these carry the white and green TrawsCymru livery. However, the first pair of the batch transferred to Newport Transport in 2021, leaving a 'tight' peak vehicle requirement for the remaining 10.

It's therefore not unusual to now find the depot's Alexander Dennis Enviro300-bodied Scania K230UBs having to put in appearances, though less so on the section north of Brecon.

By way of illustration, 28724 is captured passing under the low railway bridge in the village of Crossgates, just north of Llandrindod Wells, which carries the Heart of Wales line.

A bit of a surprise this - I was expecting B1 No. 61306 on the front of the Cathedrals Express from Horsted Keynes to Ely, however as it had failed a fitness to run the previous day the Bluebells S15 No. 847 hauled the train as far as East Grinstead with the 47 behind the loco taking over from there for the rest of the journey. Nice to see this loco with a substantial train for a change though. Seen making good progress up the steep climb to Sharpthorne in Courtland Wood.

Due to the unavailability of any steam locomotive on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway on the 15th May 2018, Class 37 diesel no. 37294 substituted and is seen here passing Skibeden with the last train of the day, the 17.05 Bolton Abbey to Embsay service. Adventure Travel operates TrawsCymru Service T1c (Aberystwyth-Aberaeron-Llandysul-Carmarthen-Cross Hands-Port Talbot-Cardiff) under contract to Ceredigion CC. This provides one return journey, though the number of days of operation has been reduced whilst society re-opens.

The service is unique within the TrawsCymru family in having a PSVAR-specification coach allocated rather than a PSVAR-compliant service bus. This sleeps out overnight in Aberystwyth and Mid Wales Travel is contracted to provide the drivers.

Talk Show

Oil on canvas Signed W x H (“) 36 x 47 Early Period

Talk Show is a painting that proves the idea that we live in a post-modern world with the apparent loss of any reasonable hope for alternative to the present.

In Talk Show, immediacy unites with immortality, trivial with profound.

In our days the long myth of immortality is replaced by the myth of immediacy.

The substitution of the trivial for the profound for many was a loss, rather than a gain, although, the will to be immediate speaks more directly to our lives. Jaisini unites the two principles, searching for unique ways that can create this double effect of physical lowland, united with the philosophical purity of mind. Talk Show has the significance of biblical wisdom based on a street scene. In Talk Show, Jaisini pictures not the dark side' of people, but the substantial one, when sex became 'the lyricism of the masses'.

The picture shows that we live in a more cynical, realistic time by means of parody. The new cynicism is the old one. The work is timeless and can relate to anyone. Talk Show has the analogous environment as in the work called Show Time the crowd representatives and the image that centers the crowd's attention. In Talk Show, it is the two dogs in an intercourse that attracts the attention of different people of the crowd. In the painting we can clearly see the interlocked line of composition. This line flows freely as an unconscious line. The absence of an 'end' in Jaisini's composition may be the artist's revolt against the end of ideology and the general failures of social theory, obsessed with 'ends', with visions of finished worlds and finalities.

Modern society was once based on a principle of expansion, but having reached a certain 'critical mass' it has begun to recoil.

Is this why Jaisini creates his secluded line composition? What we are witnessing in the domain of the social is a kind of inverse explosion. The artist avoids breaking the line because any attempt to save the principle of expansion is not 'archaic' and regressive. The principle of enclosure is the radical inquiry for continuance. Jaisini has found his way to avoid the end-state. His closed circle of composition creates a new visual code that guarantees the 'addressee,' a recognizable meaning.

The Talk Show mockery reflects the contemporary condition of Byzantizm. It could be mentioned here that even in Cicero's time, the ancient world was becoming stupid. Talk Show may symbolize the mass communication as an enclosing circle connecting mass culture and its audiences of 'mass conformist,' the picture's title can be attributed to the fact that consequently television, along with the rest of mass culture, has become an undreamed-of medium of psychological control. We become part of mass communication circuits, part of a realm and era of connection, contact, feedback, an era that is 'obscene,' yet lunar cold. The reason why the artist prescribes the emerald color to his painting may be to symbolize the coldness of the contemporary world of communications which contacts penetrate without resistance. In the picture, we see the dogs' intercourse as the critique of the talk show.

Stagecoach in South Wales's Aberdare depot requires five vehicles for Services 172/72 (Aberdare-Rhondda Valleys-Bridgend-Porthcawl).

When the service was operated by Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10Ms prior to October 2012, six were allocated. This meant that the spare would often put in an apperance on a specific diagram on interworked Services 7 & 9 (Penderyn / Mertthyr Tydfil-Hirwaun-Aberdare-Glynhafod), in place of an Optare Solo.

By way of illustration, 20685, which transferred from Stagecoach West in November 2011, is seen emerging from Duke Street, Aberdare, bound for Glynhafod, in July 2012.
