Sailing boat at sunset in Ortigia.
Ortigia bay, which is quite large and safe from the open waters, lets many boats to find a shelter. Syracuse was in ancient times an important commercial base, but in modern times it was substituted by the near Augusta, on the Eastern part of Sicily. Today is the chosen destination for many rich people that dock their boats enjoying wonderful views like this one.

Some pictures taken by the late Michael Cleary. June 1979 I think.
At this time Bexleyheath garage were having issues with the B20 type DMS's (on left) so some SM type Swifts were used to cover. Can't have been many of these things surviving by then? Location is the long-gone Eltham, Well Hall, bus station.
When we first started to see the aurora borealis during twilight, we could still sunset color on the horizon!
The moon set a little bit north of west, so the bands of green aurora stretched east-west overhead, converging on the east and west horizons. That pattern continued all night. The brightest band often ran across the sky to the south of us (as in this photo).

The 2'6" gauge railway serving the cane fields with the Rafael Freyre system near Holguin in south east Cuba ranked as one of the final remaining highlights of a visit in the late 1990s. Many of us spent hours of waiting for the perfect shot at the ‘Barjay curve’. Obtaining such an image was never unproblematic with dirt roads, no timings to go on (indeed some running in the dark), tender first running, derailments, breakdowns and the odd diesel substitute, not to mention those irritating clouds covering the sun at precisely the wrong time! Baldwin-built 2-8-0 No.1386 (built in 1919) rounds the ‘Barjay curve’ on 9th March 1996 with a loaded cane train for the mill.

Viva Art! - photographic story on my website: www.piotrowskipawel.pl/viva-art/ feel free to visit.
In 2016 I focused my attention on a number of art exhibition openings, which took place in Wrocław (Lower Silesia, Poland) – European Capital of Culture 2016. The European Capital of Culture is a city designated by the European Union for a period of one calendar year during which it organises a series of cultural events with a strong European dimension. Nowadays, word „art” can be referred almost to everything. It happens, that it is incomprehensible for the average viewer. In searching answers to the questions what is the face of contemporary art and to whom it is addressed, I looked at the artistic environment: authors, curators and visitors at vernissage time. This how they reacted to the presented works and what emotions it affect on them.

Bulleid 'West Country' pacific 34108 ''Wincanton'' backing onto its train - the Southern Counties Touring Society 'Southern Rambler' railtour - at Victoria station, on a sunny day in March 1967. This was not the loco that had been booked for the trip, but had been substituted at the last moment.
The trip was described as the 'Last Steam Train to Brighton and Eastbourne'..
34108 was withdrawn on June 25th 1967, and scrapped in October. Twenty of the West Country/Battle of Britain class were preserved, but many of these are still unrestored.
The station has been 'modernised' over the years, since this photo was taken.

It was a trying time for Hutchison with many attempts taken to trial products to find a suitable substitute for the Reliance. Time and time again the Volvo topped Hutchison's assessments. The initial Leyland Tiger was fitted with the awful looking Supreme Six. This was a budget attempt by Plaxton to combat Duple's radical and retro Dominant Three model. The Hutchison internal specification was a good one though.

Fistulina hepatica is an unusual bracket fungus classified in the Agaricales, that is commonly seen in Britain and the rest of Europe, but which can be found in North America, Australia, North Africa, and Southern Africa. As its name suggests, it looks remarkably similar to a slab of raw meat. It has been used as a meat substitute in the past, and can still be found in some French markets. It has a sour, slightly acidic taste.
