When I found this Julita dress in Joy, I immediately adored its 50s charm.

This was a new "City Style" Barbie ("hobbit body") that I purchased last spring at a KB Toy Store. Her hair was choppy and mid-back length and I purposely bought her to give her a bob. It took a while, but I'm pleased with it. Her clothes are a very recent carded (no shoes) outfit.
A couple of promo shots I took for my friend (and talented musician) Rebecca Zoe. She's playing a couple of gigs at the end of the month so needed some new pictures. I love her dye-dipped fire-burst hair!

I'm exploring the various design principles in terms of styling. This is my attempt at playing with scale.

This shield is decorated with the double-bladed sword of Mohammad on the front, and a crucifix on the back. This mixture of Muslim and Christian symbols probably indicates that the shield was used to imitate a Turkish knight in tournaments.

I decided to take my tribally patterned dress on its first proper outing. I bought it from eBay a few weeks ago but had a mini crisis of confidence where I convinced myself it was too clingy, and it's been sitting dormant on my desk at work ever since. I wore it with my burgundy cardigan from Primark, a vintage black belt, a trilby purchased from a friend when she was having a turf-out and of course my brand new Zatchels satchel, which went on it's first trip today.
It was tipping it down with rain while I took these photos, which actually ended up being a lot of fun. I enjoyed playing around with the shutter speed to catch me leaping around like a lunatic.

We had a field trip this morning with NikonJim, Tim (Bowtoo), Jenny (AppleFG) and Jims neighbor John who is not on Flickr yet.
Thanks to Jim for organizing this and getting my butt out of bed at 5am. The mission was to capture the sunrise/moon together..at least that was the mission in theory. However, the moon was smart and stayed in bed. I politely hinted to Jim to climb the rocks on the left and shine a mooner...but he didnt folllow through with that.
Anyway..we had a great but cold time and finished the am with a nice hearty breakfast in Nahant.
This is a very long exposure with my 5D and my hoya filter (to get the long exposure). I dont have an ND10 filter yet. Its actually a manual blend of two exposures because one was more underexposed and the other more well exposed image had too much flare.
I left the residual color in the photo since I didnt want to go to Black and white. The color was redder but I changed it slightly to this orange color.

Once again, paying homage to one of my favourite camera blogs, Tokyo Camera Style. I spotted a girl taking a respite from the bitter cold of Ottawa inside a Chapters bookstore, with a tripod and film SLR slung over her shoulder, so approached and asked her if I could snap a shot of her camera with my film camera (I wish I hadn't loaded redscaled film though). She immediately gave me that 'Are you for real' look, as if this were some cheesey pickup line.
After we parted, I realized that she actually looked an awful lot like Ellen Page (Juno, Inception, etc), and wished I had included a bit of her face in the photo for you to judge. Now we'll never know if this is Ellen Page's SLR or not...
Taken with my Nikon FG and Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 lens on redscaled Solaris film.
