Part of a self-assigned series for my wife's upcoming book, "Dog O'My Heart" - Guinness and Robbie were in Monrovia, California at the time. Robbie is the son of some dear friends; Guiness is their bear-chasing rottweiler. We shot this in the shade of a porch - but with a 2PM afternoon sun - trying to beat a deadline for an evening Amtrak train back to Texas.
Camera: Hasslebad, 150mm lens
Film: Fujichrome 100, 120mm.
Scanned on a Nikon 9000 Coolscan.
Strobist data: Norman 4K pak, 1 head at 2K, through a single 72" Chimera soft box at left + reflector at right + used the sun light & balanced it for hairlight. Exposure was probably around 1/125 @ f/16 or so...verified with Polaroid PN55 Polapak film.

At a recent meeting of the Swords Photographic Group we had two models and studio set ups for our members to practice. This is Stephanie an "alternative" model with a zany taste in clothes, tattoos and hair styles and colours. She was a lovely young lady and very helpful.
Setup shot of paper shredder.
Home made background stand, home made pvc pipe light stands, Home Depot light stands, Home Depot shower rod for light boom. Home made soft box from foam core and gaffer tape.
Home made cardboard snoots.
Purchased items are 2 grip heads, seamless paper, mini grip clamp, umbrella clamps.
I had set things up to take a few shots for a project, but before I got started Joleen decided she wanted to take a few photos of her Cow cupcakes from The Suisse Shop (the best bakery in Columbus) before I got my shots in....
...you know your average home snapshot, complete with off camera strobes, light meters, remote cables, tripods and backdrops, you know the average home photo, ha!

This had an eerie look after toning the values in - it looked like dead sunflowers. Hope to add some life to the remaining blooms today. A large one at 18"x24".

Lens: 28mm wide
Film: Kodachrome 25
Strobist data: Studio strobes - 1 Novatron 800ws pak, 3 heads, 2 in homemade foamcore softboxes [camera left and at back of set/top, 1 in an umbrella at camera right + a Sunpak 611 with red gel putting the specular highlight on the brass bed, upper left...) Exposure was around f/4 or 5.6 at sync for the F-1n...which scared me to death for its shallow DOF, but the 28mm came through - not to mention the willingness of the models to lower their height by various means of dancing and contortioning...!
