Candles Frozen in a Cupcake Case
If you burn a lot of candles, you will probably find yourself buying new ones pretty often. Here's a trick that'll make them last nearly twice as long.
Candles will last longer (almost 2X), if they are placed in the freezer for a day before using them. Chilling the wax gives it a bit longer before burning through and leaving you with an empty jar. For some candles this will also cause them to drip less and burn straight down without burning through the side of the candle.
So now you know why Im Celebrating, I have saved myself a Fortune 😊

I plan to use this with my seamless papers as well (still waiting on those to make it here next week). I REALLY wanted a cool green wall, but didn't order any seamless in that color, so we bought a sheet of 1/4" (8ftx4ft) plywood, cut it in half, and glued some cheapy imitation wood floors (this particular box was about $17 for 20sq ft.) to one half for the 'floor' part, and sprayed some texture on the other half and painted it green. It's standing up using triangular supports screwed into the back that you can pick up in the shelving section of the store. The baseboard was just some old leftovers we had laying around after our house was built...it's clamped into place on the 'wall' with the clamps. The whole thing was super easy to set up and the only time consuming part was waiting for the paint to dry. ;)

Here's one of the shots from the two photoshoots I did today. I did a session with a 3 month old baby in the morning and a maternity shoot (only my 2nd one) later in the afternoon. This is one of my favorite ones from the maternity shoot.
I have many more to process from both shoots, but probably will not get around to doing it until after Christmas. So consider this a teaser. :)

Well, almost pumpkin season. When you pick a pumpkin it is always about the stem! This small pie pumpkin was placed in front of the old sewing chest. You know the kind, the ones with a great handle on top that you can cart around to anywhere you sit to do your mending (back in the day).
This orange create a tunnel to pass through to the bottom of my tank, but again the water manage to stop this strategic movement.
One of my beast shot in this project.

As a comparaison to the picture of this lens taken by the Sony Nex & Canon 70-200 lens, I decided to get one shot of it with the 5d2 and light it how I would normally do a product shot.
This one is not wide open but I thought it might be interesting to compare the two shots :)
A conceptual still life inspired by the tension and silence that follows a decisive move.
Shot with controlled studio lighting, using smoke and a diffused flash to create a cinematic, moody atmosphere.
The idea was to capture the symbolic contrast between victory and defeat - the calm after conflict.
I attempted to do something a little bit similar, yet different, to my "Lemon Slice" and "Fiesta" shots, but things didnt quite go exactly as planned, so a little bit of work in CS6, and this is what I present. Had winds cooperated a little better, I might have set this up outside to accomplish what I wanted with the flash, but I also learned that strawberries have a bit more bouyancy to them than I would have thought.
Woodsy walks, crisp leaves, sweatshirt weather, cool mornings, hot coffee. . . . my favorite season.
Hoje fiz um setup bem rapidinho porque o dia tá cheio... Somente 1 flash sem modificador algum... iluminando essa parede cinza(sim... cinza) com Potência 1/32 e conseguimos um fundo Branco!!!
Strobist info: 1 sb900 P.1/32 14mm under the table point to grey wall

See my DNA... - or - View On Black
Fourteen year-old Pancho passed from this life on November 25, 2009.
Black cat (Pancho) gazes in desire of gold...fish. Photographed in my home (see the production stills of the setup in the studio set) there was MINIMAL photoshopping to make this shot look like this. (Yes, I'm "old school" there...) Fish, cat, bubbles and rocks were all in the shot as you see it. Only photoshopping was to remove the spots of fish poop.
He was a renal failure kitty - we'd been hydrating him (via I.V. saline drip every other day) for well over five years. Our vet says this may be a world's record...He was very sweet, loved to be held and was a constant companion to my wife - not nearly as nefarious as this photo makes him out to be. He was pretty scared of my lights and setup - not really interested in the fish at all.
It took a dab of catnip to get him next to the tank....
I built a special aquarium to facilitate this shot visible in the production stills (see the studio set of my photostream)....and no animals - fish, fowl or feline were harmed in the making of the photo. The goldfish was returned to PetSmart to enjoy the rest of its days out of jeopardy...
Camera: Hassleblad, 250mm lens with extensions, Norman studio strobes, FUJI 50 transparency film, scanned by Barron Photographics, Fort Worth, although, today, I'd do it on my Nikon CoolScan 9000.
Strobist data: Norman 4K pak studio strobe, two heads @ full power, 1 through a small - 16x22" Photoflex CineDome Softbox directly above set, 1 through a scoop with diffusion - behind the set pointing back to camera; plus an odd flash that screws into a standard light bulb socket in a clamp light below (diffused through chrystaline architectural tracing paper) - see the setup in the studio group of my photostream.
