An idyllic little campsite in a woods, near Hanningfield Reservoir in Essex.

Mostly vintage camping kit. My set up is a prewar Marvel No1 ridge tent, a Blacks Icelandic down sleeping bag, and a Burmos paraffin stove. Ben has a Camtors Itisa tent, and a Primus 96. It was a wet stay but we missed the worst of the weather. I don't think it rained heavily overnight either.

Stuart Ringholt is one of Australia’s most fearless contemporary artists. His practice has involved leading audiences on naturist gallery tours, anger workshops, and participatory performance works that place the artist in embarrassing situations. He makes video, absurdist sculpture, painted mirrors and collage. In 2006 he published the autobiographical book Hashish psychosis: what it’s like to be mentally ill and recover. Kee to Bala - Bala, Ontario

July 2nd, 2010

Stuart had another bumpy day yesterday and his doctors decided he needed to go back onto the ventilator. They think he may be fighting off another infection so they've started him on another course of antibiotics, and the ventilator will help him save his energy while his body's fighting off those germs.

Of course we would love to see him off the ventilator for good, but from the very beginning we were told that it's not at all uncommon for babies to come off and go back on repeatedly as thier little lungs build up strength. And looking at the bigger picture he had nine solid days off the ventilator this last time, so a little plateau is totally understandable.

Knowing all that doesn't really make it much easier, though. On the brighter side being off the CPAP means we can see his face better.

O'Grady toiled all day to put Evans and Davis in a position to fight for the win. As always, sacrificing himself for his team.

Artist

"Stuart Davis (December 7, 1892–June 24, 1964), was an early American modernist painter. He was well known for his Jazz influenced, proto pop art paintings of the 1940s and 1950s, bold, brash, and colorful.

He was born in Philadelphia to Edward Wyatt Davis and Helen Stuart Davis. His parents both worked in the arts. His father was the art editor of the Philadelphia Press while his mother was a sculptor. Davis studied painting, and art under Robert Henri, the leader of the early modern art group the Eight; he was one of the youngest painters to exhibit in the controversial Armory Show of 1913.

Exposed at this exhibition to the work of such artists as Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso, Davis became a committed "modern" artist and a major exponent of cubism and modernism in America.

[edit]Career

He was represented by Edith Gregor Halpert at the Downtown Gallery in New York City. He is probably most famous for his Hard-edge paintings, his abstract still lifes and landscapes; his use of contemporary subject matter such as cigarette packages, spark plug advertisements and the contemporary American landscape make him a proto-Pop artist.[1], Davis died of a stroke in New York on June 24, 1964, aged 71."
