We were on a 11.4 mile day hike in the Enchantments (near Leavenworth, WA) when we met up with Stuart the chipmunk. We call him Stuart because the first alpine lake we came across was Stuart Lake. He is into nuts.

Stuart holding up two albums from 1978, the Clash and Rod Stewart. Now Rod Stewart is there as a contrast to what the Clash were producing and was put down and thankfully remained unplayed!! Stuart talked about protest music and its roots with a lil discussion at the end about the way forward. What place for protest songs in this day and age when artists don't want to make waves and want a big signing on fee to be a labelled artist.
Tho not well attended it was a very enlightening and well spent hour. From Curtis Mayfield to the Staple singers to Dylan to Woodie Guthrie to Bob Marley and the Specials. Music has long been used as a means of protest and putting a message across.
The sad conclusion was that a downloadable ringtone "Fuck Racists" would probably be the only way to break through the commodification of artists

This is my brother, Stuart.
It looks like he's about to fall asleep, though actually he's in the middle of a conversation with me and sometimes he closes his eyes as he reaches for the words he's trying to say. He also uses his hand in an expressive way at the same time.
I took several shots of my brother during this session. He's very patient and happy to have his picture taken. He also makes a great cup of tea!
Some more shots of Stuart will follow soon.
