At around 4 pm the Riverside FD was toned out for the possible structure fire smoke showing from the building. PD got on scene secured a perimeter and evacuated some of the residents. Day crew in 1621 (engine out of riversides second house) along with 1614 and 1607 ( a LT who was in Sta 1) responded to the scene. Once on scene 1621 stretched one 1' 3/4. 1607 once on scene struck out a full still alarm. There was smoke showing from the rear of the building from both the second and first floor. But more importantly there was smoke coming from the basement. So they brought the line into the basement. When 1629 got on scene they were assigned ventilation. There was a problem on the roof though. Besides being steep the vent team had a very hard time getting through the roof, which was 4 shingles thick and a 1' 1/4 underneath that. And to add a cherry on top there was tons and tons of insulation which had to be pulled out. Also in one words of the FF operating the saw. "I was getting more smoke from the saw then the hole". While the attack was in the basement a second one was stretched just behind them, the attack team lost pressure in their line and the team behind them took the lead. It was all and all a quick knock...most of the fire damage was contained to the basement. The vent team was very lucky though when they made one of their holes, it was above the stairwell leading from the first to second floor which got a lot of smoke out. According to the FF in the basement which they could not see their hands in front of their faces, as soon as they vented the roof they gained Visibility. Pictured is 1629, 1621, and RPD 51

The boy's features gently mimic the authoritarian pose often found in equestrian sculptures, but his gesture is one of pure excitement. There will be no tragic consequences resulting from his imaginary conquest.
Commissioned by the Mayor of London, the sculpture celebrates the heroism of growing up and questions the tradition of monuments predicated on military victory or defeat. The sculpture is 4.11 metres high, 4.32 metres long and weighs 3.1 tons.

C'est un immeuble de 1911 de style art déco . A l'origine, maison personnelle de l'architecte où il situe ses bureaux au rez de chaussée, les étages étant réservés à l'habitation familiale . L'immeuble est remarquable par son originalité. Un détail (typiquement art nouveau) qui ne se remarque qu'en apportant une attention particulièrement attentive est époustouflant : il s'agit des chats sculptés dans le granit qui coiffent les piliers de la terrasse surmontant le bow-window.
A voir également dans la même rue, outre l'immeuble immédiatement voisin : la maison Bacot,au n° 42, un troisième immeuble de Cl. Pirnay: la maison Alexis au n°31 .

Tina is a turnip I carved with goat cheese eyes, peppercorn pupils, red pepper lips, chocolate licorice hair, eggplant bowler hat, rice paper button down, black licorice tie, bread dough arms, kiwi fuzz arm hair, rice grain fingernails, icing. Book structure is puff pastry and pastry cream-otherwise known as the napoleon (which is a deep pun on the title bossypants).

The list on the left is the 'hue' of colour I used. I then subtracted the colour in the 12 faces = 780 from what is confined by the 12 faces = 728
780 - 728 = 52
I was left with 52; 52 weeks to 1 year
Another homework for university. The idea was to create 3 different black and white structures each 20x20. The composition should range from calm to energetic.
Too bad the scrren with its 72ppi can't fully reproduce the thin lines. Maybe someone gets a kick by looking at the moiré ::]

Workers are placing reinforcing steel for the bottom of the utility trench.
The design of the New Embassy is almost entirely reinforced concrete. Steel rods or reinforcing steel strengthens the concrete and produces a strong structure. All structures at the New Embassy are on top of concrete piles that support the heavy buildings and prevent these building from sinking into the soft soils.
The process of making concrete structures is simple; first a one side of a mold or form is made. Second, reinforcing steel is placed in the form as well as block to create any required spaces. Third, the second side of the form is installed and concrete is placed into the form. Finally, after the concrete hardens, the forms are removed and the concrete wall is completed.
The Paramaribo New Embassy Compound (NEC) Project continues to make excellent progress and continues to remain ahead of schedule of the July 2016 completion date. For the Month of October 2014, the project completed approximately $2 million of work. The project is approximately 30 percent complete. Approximately 300 Surinamese workers are employed on the site with responsibilities ranging from labors, to skilled technicians, to office workers to professional engineers.
