i'm always amazed at what random things you find on the outside of homes.
this also really shows some of the serious poverty down there.
Totally original concept - yeah right - like there wasn't loads of people doing the exact same thing at this moment. My colleague Chris - supporting the famous Tower of Pisa.
This is a historic house, from what I understand its over a century old. The stone appears to b e local. After seeing so many structures fall to ruin in rural Missouri its a pleasure to see one being maintained. Taken on the outskirts of Owensville Missouri.
"The structural analysis of literature is nothing other than an attempt to transform literary studies into a scientific discipline . . . a coherent body of concepts and methods aiming at the knowledge of underlying laws" - Seymour Chatman, Approaches to Poetics
Here, Chatman criticises structuralism for allowing literary criticism to transform into some kind of science, defined as "coherent body of concepts." He makes this dead-on comparison to expose what he thinks are the flaws in the structuralist approach to literary studies.
Fashion is an example of structuralism in respect to the idea that the structuralist approach involves “placing the individual work inside a larger structural context” (Barry 46). Individual fashions, or the choice of wearing certain clothes, depend on how they are viewed within a larger set or structure - the infamous rules of ‘fashion sense’. This larger structural context of fashion is of peak importance and gives individual items a particular and collective significance.
I took this back in June in Madeira and I've just found out it's been accepted into the Pentax Photo Gallery which has just been relaunched after a substantial upgrade.
Clever bit of structural engineering that amalgamates an internal wall of the old building with the new roof. I've watched the booking hall project emerge over the space of a few years right from its 'hole in the ground' phase. The whole surrounding area has been going through a fascinating metamorphosis. And loads to come yet.

The spring exhibition in Metropolitan Museum of Art honored the work of the German-born designer Karl Lagerfeld from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019.
The career of Karl Lagerfeld spanned a remarkable sixty-five years, during which he served as the creative director of multiple design houses, including Fendi, Chloé, Chanel, and his eponymous label.
My favorite exhibition of the year which once again proved, Karl Lagerfeld was not only a brilliant fashion designer, but also a multi-talented and creative man.
The exhibition took place May 5th through July 16th, 2023
Metropolitan Museum of Art, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty
CHANEL coat, Fall/Winter 2017-18
This isn't the first time this has happened at our work building (see this photo taken from near the biogenesis lab last October), but anyway, we got a memo via e-mail today: "Due to the rain, the 7th floor awning is breaking apart and falling down. Security is going to close off the back portion of the parking lot."
Taken from the ramp behind the building.
people were all worried about the new ROM extension being able to support heavy snowfalls. well, it got a good testing on Sunday when we had a record one-day snowfall. i'm happy to report that it's still standing!
