macromondays theme: deception

it's amazing how much weight these tiny spiderweb threads can sustain... I cropped this quite a bit to get close enough to see the street refracted in the droplets...these were pretty tiny!

Little brooch on my bible verse. If you ever lose your way in life, a map and a bible will chart your course.

With an American president who plays hardball with long-time allies and footsie with our adversaries, I'm reminded of the Angel Thunder exercises that brought together rescue personnel from all around the world to learn personnel recovery techniques from one another and train in unscripted, realistic events. In this photo a British Royal Marine helps US Air Force PJs load a role-player 'casualty' into an H215 operated by Air Center Helicopters while a Peruvian Air Force Bell 212 orbits the area.

Shot for some photo work I did for Air Center back in 2017 when they were bidding on a contract to provide CASEVAC for SOCOM in North Africa.

This is a different shot of the tree stump I posted a few weeks back. I liked this Sepia version as well.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday. Things are calming down a bit of me though still quite busy. Thanks for the support, comments, invites and faves!

My hands, your hands tight up, like two ships drifting, weightless, waves try to break it. I do anything, to save it. My heart, your heart sit tight, like bookends. Pages between us written with no end. So many words we're not saying. Don't wanna wait, till it's gone. Think of, how much love that's been wasted. People always try to escape it. Move on, to stop their heart breaking, but there's nothing I'm running from. So baby hold on to my heart, need you, to keep me from falling apart. I'll always hold on, 'cause you make me strong. I'm sorry, if I say, "I need you", but I don't care, I'm not scared of love. 'Cause, when I'm not with you I'm weaker. Is that so wrong? Is it so wrong? That you make me strong...

In a strong case of "be careful what you wish for," this shot of a westbound Illinois Railway train crossing the wooden trestle in Millbrook is something I have wanted capture for many, many years now. It's rarely ever possible, given that the IR trains run mostly at night. And the trestle is barely visible in the summer months when it is still possible to catch this run in daylight due to the heavy leaf cover. And, as the years have worn on, the scrub trees have only gotten bigger and thicker.

So, when I was out at Silver Springs State Park looking to shoot whatever was left of the fall colors and heard the horn for the westbound run, I headed back to the car and raced to get to Millbrook before the train. I made it, but only barely. And only because a semi traveling the wrong way struck the bridge over the road out of frame to the right. The semi's trailer was too tall for the road clearance, and sustained major damage as a result. The train slowed and had to crawl across the bridge and eventually stopped short of the Millbrook rail crossing. MOW crews were dispatched from IR's base in Ottawa, and the train would hold here for the next several hours pending inspection of the road bridge. Thanks to this, my hopes of catching the train multiple times with the last of the fall colors as a backdrop quickly came to an end.

These little flowers are still standing tall despite the snow. I guess it is not spring yet and old man winter is showing his fury.

Why do we choose to live somewhere? Whether it's First Nations people or later groups of settlers, the reasons have usually been similar: a place to grow or obtain food and fresh water, to raise a family and to build community.

This industrial style art piece celebrates the industries, activities and people which have made Mission a good choice to live for many generations.

Hello my Flickr friends. Good to be back. I've been distracted from photography and not posted for quite some time. It's good to be back :-)

This was taken in the Tate Modern in London. I love the hard bold lines of this building, stark and strong and industrial. Perfect for mono. Canon EOS 6D & EF 28-80mm f/2.8-4.0L In Explore 27/08/2022
