Tawny Owl Strix aluco at night near Bedford Bedfordshire.
This trip, 16th March 2012 we had 4 Tawny Owls, 2 Barn Owls and lots of Munjac with very small fawns!

Later on juvenile makes a clumsy attempt to fly out of the tree. (24 Jul 2017 pm)

At first light this morning, mama owl fed the juvenile with fresh dead bird (I think). She fed some to the juvenile, but ate most of it. (28 Jul 2017)

Tryon Creek State Park, Portland, OR. Part of the Barred Owl invasion of the west. It certainly would be unlikely to find Spotteds in the this park, however. I am assuming this is the male of the pair due to the chickadee ruckus in another tree. Presumably where the female is incubating. He (?) did not vocalize and without the other bird size comparison isn't possible so the sex is still just a guess. Note facial disk color in comparison to breast and nape and compared to Spotted.
