At sunrise, adults fly around the tree to settle down for the day. Juvenile flies to be near the mother. Juvenile is starting to fly well.
Eventually, juvenile settles next to mother who grooms the juvenile. The juvenile appears to attempt to groom her.

all of the barred owl shots were taken with a 300 zoom lens and no tripod. this owl lived day and night at our house for several weeks.
He turns his head this way and that ... occasionally crows, jays or chickadees fly over or land nearby yelling at her but to no avail.
