Juvenile roosting on a low tree below the rain tree, while adults were roosting on the usual rain tree. Here it is emerging at sunset to join the parents on the taller tree (23 Jul 2017).
This is In my backyard as daylight was getting dim. I noticed the owl sitting on top of the crook on one of my bird feeder poles, so I grabbed the camera and went to see if I could get some shots. This bird was SO tame! I was able to get less than 20 feet from it before it flew up out of the way. I decided to crop the "un-natural" metal perch out of the picture.

Taken at a park in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on May 15 2013. I rounded a corner and found myself face-to-face with this Barred Owl. After about an hour, the bird spotted a squirrel and went from perch to perch trying to catch it, so I managed to photograph it in many different spots and poses.
*This is a wild owl*
