Soulis: Striving to the Top.

"I strive to be my best every time I go out, and that's very stressful. After a while of doing that... it's nice to just take a deep breath, sit on a tractor."

-- Bill Goldberg (American retired professional wrestler known simply as Goldberg and football player)

The Pink Tractor is located at Patti's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers, Kentucky and carries unique & trendy clothing and accesories for girls of all ages. This bright, hot pink Massey Ferguson tractor sits in front of the shop which makes it hard to miss.

Often I feel like a lot of SL photos aim to look as real as possible... I strive for that as well.

“Strive always to excel in virtue and truth.”PROPHET MOHAMMAD (ﷺ)

In general, I strive to look for something different in a photograph, something that might set it apart from images that anyone else might take. Occasionally though, a scene just presents itself.

Veszprém is a town that loves music. What is important to us is not only the professionals, the big names and the mass events, but we also strive to make music an everyday part of our life. We motivate amateurs and hobby musicians, because music builds communities and gives our inhabitants experiences to remember. We are happy to think about the bands that have grown up here, the Street Music Festival, VeszprémFest, and the Auer Violin Festival. We are proud to say that all stars who have once performed here like to return to us thanks to the open and music-loving audience.

Due to this openness we have a school in Veszprém where 400 children are learning folk dance. There are three parallel classical music concert series to a full house, and every weekend we provide concerts and electronic music events to 100-1200 young people. Another result is that, relative to its size, Veszprém is a leading city in organising live music events.

We do not emphasize one single style or event but would like to focus on music itself as a tool of communication among people and communities. Participation is what actually counts, because we believe that music can make life better at individual and collective levels.

This is why we would like to create social areas for playing music, motivate learning to perform music, and bring inspiring events to the town. All in all we would like to simultaneously strengthen and widen basis (and also, if a pyramid has a wider base, its top can reach higher). At the same time, music and culture are both highly beneficial to the financial state of the town and tourism, and this fits the aims of ECoC 2023 Veszprém perfectly.

In Striving for More, One Can’t Put Others Down

It’s your race to strive, struggle and win

The blessings of this life are yours; do not settle for less!

They are a gift from above and for others around

Be sure to share as you bring it to life

After all, we’re all on this same planet together!

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning while walking the Endless Wall Trail in New River Gorge National Park & Preserve. This setting is looking to the northeast from Diamond Point Overlook. With this image, I focused on the look across that ‘endless wall,’ capturing some of the cliff face present along with the forest of trees that seemingly went on to a distant horizon. By metering for the slightly brighter areas in the tree leaves, I felt I was able to capture enough of the highlights, while later being able to pull out the more shadowed areas without a color cast. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 4. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I added a Polarization, Foliage and Skylight filter for that last effect on the image captured.

So much of life is about striving, reaching for something.

...strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.

REBORN by eBODY v1.69.5

Waking up to another wet, foggy day in Toronto. Best seen large by clicking on the photo. Have a great as t week everyone!

-Strive to be original-

WORMOD Art 306 : The artist strives to execute a work of art worthy of this term, releasing, after having rediscovered his beloved madness, a Cubist delirium.

A tree, struggling for life by the look of it, adds a bit of contrast to the Mountains of the Coulin Forest as seen from the road through Glen Torridon, the northern face of Maol Chean-dearg prominent in the middle of the picture.

The small dark green tree certainly got it!

“All strive for victory. But not all understand what it truly is. To a soldier or pilot on the line, victory is surviving the current battle. To a politician, victory is an advantage one can bring to a bargaining table. To a warrior, victory is driving an enemy from the field of battle, or bringing him to surrender.

Sometimes victory is greater than the warrior could ever hope for. Sometimes it is more than he is able to hear.”

- Thrawn

It all started almost two months ago with an idea. Make something for May 4th (I’m late, I know, but cut me some slack). Me and Jan, the Creator are both big fans of the Imperial architecture seen in the Star Wars universe and wanted to do something large in size. After some hours of researching, looking through many concept arts and designs, the plans were put together and we set out to build our creations.

~ Platform ~

The starting point for me here was the platform on which the custom Tie Fighter (designed by Jerac) and many minifigs are standing on. One piece of concept art / Imperial structure we found was a large landing platform on Kashyyyk. To get the shaping right, a combination of corner slopes, hinges and many larger tiles were used to get the look. Since the surrounding area was to be terrain, I went with Dark Orange as the color for the ground. I purposefully left this area more flat and basic to leave attention towards the base. I also wanted a small area below the platform to store speeders which also helps break up the bottom area, giving it some action.

~ Base ~

The base itself was built in two main sections and some medium sized segments at the top. Walls here uses various tiles in LBG and DBG to form this Imperial architecture design. Was quite a challenge later on with the lack of tiles in certain areas so I had to get creative in how I would spread them. Instead of just using regular tile, I also made use of sandwhich tiles, corner faucet cut tiles and some snot to built up this area. Lots of other elements were used for detail including some DBG frames that I attached to tiles to create this column in the middle wall. The key thing while working on this was to keep a balance of simplicity and detail, something that can get lost while working on a larger creation. As we get to the top, you can see more detail and extras, like crates and dishes that populate this area.

~ Minifigs ~

The last thing I want to discuss is the minifigs used throughout the build. The Imperial selection of officers, troopers and crew is very extensive so once again, keeping a balance was important. Me and Jan wanted to include characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Moff Tarkin to give these creations a bit more purpose. Perhaps they’re here to inspect something new, here for a strategy session, the point is these two give a presence, even with being two small minifigs. The Death Troopers additionally work well to complement those, giving you once again the feeling that there are things at work here.

Thank you to CTR Bricks for helping edit the picture.

This is the culmination of well over a year’s worth of work: I think I started this project a little after the UCS Republic Gunship was released. So it feels good to finally have this finished and show it off!

I strived to make an accurate, studless version of the ship which incorporated some of the discoloured panels like the UCS version. I used the reference material collected from Star Wars Episode 2, 3 and Battlefront II.

Over the course of this project, a few outstanding Gunships emerged in the LEGO Star Wars community, which was both inspiring and slightly disheartening as they set the bar for MOCs of this vehicle incredibly high! Bousker made an excellent Clone Wars version and you may see some similarities between mine and Jhae's. Though we came to the solution of using the grated cheese slopes independently, his design helped inform some of the internal structure and the bed of the troop compartment.

I also looked to atlasr's version for inspiration, which while digital and at a slightly larger scale than I was aiming for, is perhaps the most accurate LEGO version I’ve ever seen.

Massive thanks to all the dudes for their inspiration, encouragement, feedback, and numerous ideas which I stole, you know who you are!
