Heavy-duty nylon thread in various colors, for the "string" theme. Just for grins, I took this one using the Minolta 100mm macro lens from last week's photo, using the original Minolta bellows adapted to the Sony a6000. Individual threads are about 0.5mm diameter, and the width of the image is about 22mm, for a magnification of about 1.07. HMM!

If you are curious about how this image relates to string theory, watch the "Five Flavours of String Theory" (Hour 2, chapter 8) and "Getting To One Theory" (Hour 3, chapter 3) at The Elegant Universe homepage. Available in quicktime and realvideo. The whole Elegant Universe movie is 3 hours (all of it available on the site) and is highly recommended if you're an interested layman.
(If you're in a hurry you can watch only "Getting to One Theory" and skip to 1/3 into the clip)
Several years ago while cycling in Sussex I spotted this neatly coiled length of nylon string/cord lying in the gutter. I couldn't really miss it, could I? I picked it up and put it in my saddlebag, knowing that one day it would come in handy.
Today's the day! HMM!
The violin, sometimes known as a fiddle, is a wooden chordophone in the violin family. Most violins have a hollow wooden body. It is the smallest and thus highest-pitched instrument in the family in regular use.

LOVE AND TOGETHERNESS OBJECTS
This quilt took me nearly 8 months to finally get done. RELIEF! LOVE! It measures 62" by 51" (ish!)
Taking suggestions for a name for this one!!!
This is a picture of my favorite model Alessandra Ambrioso. She is one of the most popular Victorias Secret models along with Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks. As you can see the "Bathing suit" has come along way from its bathing skirts and bloomers of the 1920's. Today "less is better." The bikini derived its name after Jacques Heim (a fashion designer) saw a string bikini with a g-string back in a fashion show in Paris in 1946. He named it after Bikini Atoll, the site of the nuclear weapon tests a few days before the show. He named it after this on the association that the burst of excitement it caused would be like that of the nuclear explosion. In 1951 bikinis were banned from the Miss World Contest following the crowning of Miss Sweden in a bikini and subsequent protests with a number of countries threatening to withdraw. In 1957, Bridgette Bardot wore a bikini in "And God Created Woman" and sparked the market for bikini swimwear in the U.S. Also in 1960, Brian Hylands song "itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini" started a bikini-buying spree. The string bikini (as shown on the model) is a renovation of the traditional bikini that generally consists of the barest minimal fabric coverage for the top and bottoms, both are reduced to triangles of cloth connected by strings. For some women, the string bikini may actually be the most flattering bikini style. The string bikini style looks best on women with small busts or boyish shapes. Because women with small breasts do not need a large amount of bra-style support, a traditional triangle top can serve to add more shape and curve to the breasts. In addition, triangle tops with built-in under wires can work similarly to a push-up bra to maximize the breasts. Today the string bikini is one of the most popular types of swimwear and you can see it on girls as young as 5 to women as old as.......well, we dont want to imagine that.

Six minute exposure at String Lake. Set this one up with this nice patch of grass along the bank of the lake. Liked the way the grass was sticking out of the water ... into the reflection there.
These are the potholders that I made for my partner for Potholder Pass 3. I was inspired by the leaf mini quilt on the cover of Whip Up Mini Quilts. I paper pieced each half of the leaf as I would a string quilt and then stitched up the center, turned the edges and appliqued. And yes, I jumped onto the grommet bandwagon! (and no, that isn't my house--we have a run down barn that hasn't been fixed up yet and I think it makes for a neat background!)
