Winter had been , well sporadic to say the least this year, and when February was only a few weeks old, any remnants of snow were soon to be vanquished as spring /summer like conditions took hold over the UK.

12 months prior and a weather pattern saw the UK blasted by cold easterly winds for a number of weeks , finally becoming known as the 2018 Beast from the East! This year and the balance was re addressed with the winds being stuck from the Azores and Africa. Scotland (and the UK) posted record high temperatures for February an the dust on my ice axes showed no sign of being re homed 

I was starting to feel resentment at the weather, but eventually decided to take a different outlook. So winter had gone AWOL for a few weeks and spring had well and truly peeked her head above the wall. Instead of pitying the decline of winter, I embraced this early blast of summer and got my camping gear out and headed for a summit camp!

I didn’t have too much time so scoured the maps for a nearby location and decided on a hill within a 30 minute drive from my front door.

Leaving the car , the temperature was recorded at 16.5!! The last time I had been here, it was mid August and I reckon the temperature was under half this! The wind and driving rain certainly didn’t help on the last trip! Tis time the skies were blue and winds light and I set about getting on the top to try and find a suitable pitch before darkness descended. The weather was summery , but the hours of daylight can’t be altered and I was soon pitching the tent in time for a lovely sunset. Water collected and tea warmed up, I settled back into the tent for a few hours to allow the last rays of sun and light to fade, before venturing out to do a bit of star gazing.

Not only had it been unseasonably mild, it had also been super dry! I spent around 2 hours gazing upwards (much of this was lying on my back in my socks gazing a the stars and satellites as they crossed the sky.) No moon at this time so the sky was alight with stars and the milky way was visible stretching across the dome above me.

Having taken a few star shots I eventually hit the hay, and unusually, had a great nights sleep before waking to catch a lovely dawn and sunrise. The tent came down and I was soon heading the short distance back to the car , and civilisation for the weekend  A fine adventure

n the old town of barcelona, a passerby strides along a striking pink backdrop, a vibrant contrast to the muted tones of their attire. the walls whisper tales of the past, with patches and textures speaking to the city's rich tapestry. it's a scene where urban life and colorful history intersect, with each step along the cobbled streets adding to the narrative of this bustling catalan corner.

This was shot with a Nikon L35AF, a point and shoot film camera with a 35mm lens, on Portra 400. I used to to be too intrusive with my photography and felt I was disrupting the emotions of my subjects and thus affecting the scene as a whole. I'm currently forcing myself to not take shots where that becomes an issue. I'm a big fan of Daido Moriyama and this was shot from the hip with my camera by my side, just like he would.

There's many fashionable people in Harajuku and it definitely became my favourite place to hang out in Tokyo.

Brilliant late afternoon reflection from a Strider Club catamaran, Spice Island, Old Portsmouth. Last one of my little set, wish I'd have taken more in this fantastic light.

I captured this scene hand held with my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens with polariser. For a brief period the winter light was purely sublime. Within 15 minutes the moment had passed, Freezing fog descended (you can see it approaching), so glad I managed to bag a few shots.

70611 Water Strider is my third The LEGO NINJAGO Movie set that I’ve built, the second one I’ve done a review for and I gotta say, so far TLNM sets are impressive. Looking ahead at other TLNM sets sitting in my review pile, I’m fairly confident in saying that the trend of...

"The Star Strider is an extremely fast pursuit craft with high maneuverability thanks to it's adjustable wings. Perfect for keeping peace and order!"

I found myself disassembling my LEGO 70351 Clay's Falcon Fighter Blaster set and really liked the colors and the cockpit. So I decided to build something from it. This is the result.

The model has two large adjustable wings on either side, three adjustable fins on top and features two "hidden" spring-loaded shooters underneath. It fits Clay in full armor and has a clip for holding his sword. The model is fairly swooshable and the shooters can be activated while "flying" it with a single hand.

Former Tyne & Wear PTE Scania Alexander RH 413 (JFT413X) sits between former Busways' Volvo Strider 1902 (M902DRG) and Scania Strider 954 (M954DRG) in the Felling shed this afternoon.

413 also served with Bullock's of Cheadle and Black Prince of Morley before entering preservation. New to Busways 954 also served Stagecoach West Scotland (28954), but more recently Harrogate Coach Travel, while 1902 (21002), also new to Busways, remained in the region its entire life.

Single water strider on the surface of a stream in Colorado Springs, Colorado. April 27, 2019.

If you're in the northern hemisphere, you don't need me to tell you that you've just entered the hottest month of the year. This is about the time when the novelty of summer turns into a countdown until the kids are shuffled back into classrooms and the longing for the cold weather holidays begin shaking off the dust in the backs of your minds. Thoughts of the sweater weather of Halloween and the teeth chattering cold of Christmas have probably begun soliciting fantasies of pumpkin spice and hot chocolate.

Here in the southern hemisphere however, the hottest months of the year fall during those cool weather holidays of the north. Halloween, a holiday that's been gaining popularity here in Brazil, happens at a time when spring begins changing hands with summer heat and Christmas is often celebrated by family trips to the coast to participate in Brazil's extraordinarily egalitarian beach culture. We'll look forward to this next Christmas with family gathered in an outdoor space, drinking cold beer and waiting for midnight of the 25th for celebrations and food. We'll comfort dogs afraid of fireworks, develop flip flop tan lines and sleep under fans, strategically placed to cut through the oppressive tropical humidity. Think of this while you begrudgingly chip the frost off of your car window.

I took this photo two years ago on December 25th in the Sao Paulo beach town Praia Grande. This is Christmas in Brazil.

Magma Striders are found in small numbers along the outskirts of the Region of Fire. They are medium-sized, slow, passive Rahi which tend to migrate throughout the Region's outskirts, avoiding conflict and sticking together.
