A well built 'Adit' style stream diverting tunnel, this can be found near the bottom of possibly another incline railway site that runs along the side of the former quarry at Shortwood.

It snowed in Victoria this week. Southern Vancouver island is reacting in its usual ways... resignation in the rural areas... sheer pandemonium in the city. Yesterday, CBC Radio said "sannich police are asking people to please stop calling 911 to report the snow conditions". That says it all. :)

Pretty sure this is the Routeburn stream and not a side creek. It's about two thirds the way to the Flats Hut from the Glenorchy Road end.
A somewhat garish combination of three images, trying to fill out the silhouette and white-out sky on the respective images.
It's impressive how seamlessly our eye adjusts to brightness and contrast in different parts of the observed environment. Trying to combine these different settings in one image has to be subtle, or it tends to look ghastly in my opinion.
Perhaps one day, we'll have a picture format that tracks your eye over the picture and adjusts the exposure setting to create a more natural feel.
