I've spent a couple of hours hanging around the main square and collected only a few regrets: mainly a young girl sitting at a table with friends which I couldn't find again once I decided to ask her for a portrait.

On my way back to the train station, away from my comfort zone, I saw this really cool girl with headphones walking just a few steps behind me: not too far from there ther's a location I've used in the past and once I got close to if I handed one of my cards to Giulia asking if I could take a few portraits.

Giulia knows a least two of the strangers in my card and when I showed her my Instagram page she recognized other faces: this made it super easy and Giulia agreed immediately to pose for me: to make all the coincidences even more incredible, Giulia told me that she works as a photographer, mainly portraits and in fact she had just finished to do a photoshoot.

We moved to the small alley and I took quite a few shots while chatting: I went mainly for close-ups and, as most of the times, I did not pay much attention to the camera settings but I'm pleased with the results.

With the light fading away, the reflector gave a nice boost (probably even too much): interesting to see the different results with the golden and the silver sides of the reflector.

Giulia had to catch a train so we shaked our hands and walked away.

On my way home I've checked Giulia's profile and her portraits are really amazing!

Did you realize no one can see inside your view?

He didn't know I took this one, hopefully it'll be a nice surprise.

So .. because I'm so un-stressed and have lots of free time ... not ... I'm starting a project of 100 Strangers.

... lol. I'm so bored, I'm making already existing projects MORE involving.

This is Lucas, he is a little boy that I didn't even know that lives on my street. I found out today that if you walk up and down the street with 35 ballons, children will come from places you didn't know existed.

A lovely medieval house, dating back to 1320, which is well worth a visit.

This stranger saw me on the sidewalk with my camera and asked for a photo. I sent him this frame. Behind him is a detail of Raven N' The City by Haida artist Shoshannah Greene.

Usually, it takes me a while to decide if I like someone. Rachel is one of those rare people that I liked the instant I met her. How could anyone not like her with a beautiful smile like that? The smile matches her exuberant personality and natural beauty.

Sky introduced us. She brought Rachel along as an escort for our photoshoot this afternoon. I hope I can persuade Rachel to model for me sometime soon.

A Stranger - 30 Seconds Project.

Bumped into this stranger in Amsterdam, who happens to be well-known dutch actress ;-)

What is better than one man on a tractor? Two men on tractors. This is Burt Wheeler, who doesn't own the tractor he is sitting on but is friends with Dunc (Stranger # 12) who owns a lot of these antiques. It was hard for them to hear me and vice versa as there was a carnival midway going on behind us. We chatted about the tractor square dance (I know, sounds weird, but it was amazing to watch!). I think I heard them both say that they never miss the Erin Fall Fair.

While walking the streets of Bologna, I saw Arianna talking with her friend.

Having only a couple of minutes to shoot and being in a busy place did not help very much.

Arianna is the only stranger I managed to shoot in 2019; she works as model and I bet you've already guessed it!

“It was unusual, I’ve always wanted to do it and I didn’t know anyone else that played it so I decided to learn the cello. It was either that or the harp...and we couldn’t fit the harp in the car."

It was Ebony's flowery headband which first caught my eye as I was taking a walk through the shopping arcade. It looked like she was with her mum which was a little daunting (even now) approaching them but I plucked up the courage and thankfully they agreed - Katie (the mum) had heard of the project so it helped.

Ebony had a great expression while taking these head shots, a certain innocence you only get from such so young perhaps...?

She could easily become a model I thought.

Stranger Things

A strange and intriguing location in Hokkaido Japan January 2023

Hope you enjoy viewing

Back in July, a friend & I stayed in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare for the famous "Willie Clancy week" of traditional Irish music. After 3 days I needed a break from the music, so I booked a free bus to The Cliffs of Moher www.cliffsofmoher.ie/ What an amazing place that is, full of tourists though unfortunately 😂

The free shuttle bus wound its way through the local villages. There was only me & one other lady aboard so I passed the time of day with the genial bus driver. As we chatted I thought shall I be brave & ask him to take part in my 100 strangers project? And so I did.

Muiris is Irish for Maurice, he said he didn't mind how I spelled it but I thought I'd try & get it right. He was born in Connemara but had lived for 5 years in Australia then 2 in London before returning to his native Lahinch. We chatted about his love of Connemara ponies which he breeds as a hobby. He mainly works for one of the major bus companies but is a relief driver for the Cliff of Moher tours.

I felt this photo really captured his cheeky smile as well as emphasising his role within the Cliffs of Moher experience. I really enjoyed our chat Muiris, thank you for agreeing to take part in my 100 Strangers project. Hope the ponies are behaving for you.

She's one of the most beautifully striking faces I've photographed in my "Portraits of Strangers" project. I was fortunate enough to have a photo shoot with Atika just last weekend.

This is from yesterday, went to a nearby downtown to watch the lighting up their Christmas tree. Santa rode on a fire truck, was presented the keys of the city and lit the tree..

Anyhow, had to rush back due to certain circumstances, and I still had to get my shot of the day. I saw this alley and thought it would be a cool spot to get a couple of shots of my kids in it.. and, I wanted my daughter to stand exactly this stranger dude was... and despite seeing me setting up my shot, he wouldn't move. I waited a couple of minutes pointing the camera straight at him with my daughter waiting in the back a few feet from where he was... finally, I just gave up waiting for him to move and took his shots instead.

In the hind sight, I wish I had moved two feet to my right and had taken this with a slight angle, but oh well...

In celebration of the release of the Lego Stranger Things theme, I threw together the main characters that were missing from the set. I love this show, and I am very excited to see Lego embrace it with such an amazing model.

Part 2 of my MCU series is coming soon.

I was out for the day with some photography friends. We went to Cambridge Market where we met the lovely Emma. Emma runs her vintage stall called 'Ribbons and Rags' every Friday in Cambridge. Prior to that she travelled across the UK with a vintage fayre company.

My friends and I asked Emma if we could take some photos of her, she very kindly agreed and I explained about the stranger project and asked her if she would mind taking part, she was quite happy to.

Emma has some lovely vintage items on her stall, well worth a visit, I hope to return before too long. I couldn't resist purchasing a few vintage bottles.

When I asked Mae and Bruno if they had come from far, they said “Yes, from France”. They had come from Paris but are now locals. Mae and Bruno have been living in Glastonbury for a year. Mae was happy to be part of my strangers project but Bruno declined, although I did take photos of the couple together, for them to keep.

Mae is a therapist. In her spare time she likes to chill and enjoys singing. Her partner Bruno works in cinematography and has recently been engaged on a film in France for 3 months.

Although it was close to midday and the sky was clear, I foolishly decided to try photographing Mae in the open; thinking that the reflector would deal with the shadows. After all it was Winter sun. Thankfully I also got a couple shots in the shade of St Michael’s Tower and it is one of these that I have uploaded.

As we exchanged our goodbyes, one of us said “see you later” or something along those lines. Of course now that we have met, we are bound to bump into each other again; Glastonbury is a small town.

Thank you Mae for taking part in my project. It was great to meet you and Bruno.
