Dawn breaks over Loch Fada on a chilly morning at the cottage on the Isle Of Skye with the Old Man Of Storr on the hillside in the background.
This picture represents the mysterious atmosphere during my visit at Old Man of Storr. Very fascinating piece of earth.
This is properly the most famous walk on the Island and definitely the busiest. The ‘Old Man’ is a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around. As part of the Trotternish ridge the Storr was created by a massive ancient landside, leaving one of the most photographed landscapes in the world.

For a sense of scale there are 3 hikers below the Old Man of Storr. This is an older image as the pine forest by the A855 is still there.
After setting off in the dark the rewards that first light on the Storr gives you is more than worth the early start.

I remember trying to get a differnt aspect when photographing the Old Man of Storr - the boulder slope directly behind is a perspective I hadn't seen before - there was always that risk of falling boulders I guess... we made three tries for this location during our 2010 trip and this was the best of the conditions!
