I traveled to o different town today to explore the storefronts and was surprised to find a photography studio - only open by appointment. The cameras on the floor in the display window caught my eye, but I realized there were different vintage cameras tucked in different places in the window. There wasn't a way to reasonably capture them all, so I got a few. I've also been reading about Henri Cartier-Bresson and attempted to photograph using his settings - black and white, ISO 400, 1/125, aperture changed as needed and no crops. I might try this again and try to get some people into the shot next time. All unexplored.
To celebrate this holiday we are posting a photo of our visit to Bonbons, a Viennese sweets business, which was founded in 1936 by Rosa Breithuber. In 2002, it was taken over by the Durnberger family, who kept the original charm of the candy shop, selling the same delicacies but also expanding its range with Its own chocolate creations and new confectionery.

Remembering the original location of Cupcake Café at the corner of Ninth Avenue at 39th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, which was founded in 1988 by Ann Warren. . When we first discovered and took this 35mm photo of this bake shop in 2003, we not only loved its handpainted signage but also loved their delicious made-from-scratch buttercream cakes 🍰 and cupcakes decorated with beautiful floral designs.

Thank you for taking the time to look at, comment on, and fave my photographs. Come say hello on Instagram if you like.
Famous for its retro memorabilia and gigantic size, my favorite night market in Bangkok has to be Rot Fai (Train Market), conveniently located near the Thailand Cultural Center MRT. It is split into three sections: everyday clothes and fashion, collectibles, and delicious snacks can all be found in abundance here. This photograph was taken in one of the isles of the market. What's he doing on his phone/tablet... working or playing?
Waverly Restaurant on the corner of Waverly Place and 6th Ave was founded in 1979 by Nick Serafis and is now run by the 2nd-generation family members including his daughter, Angela. We love its neon signage and it’s delicious food including classic diner options as well as some Greek specialties. Today, we stopped by this Greenwich Village old-school diner with our dog Hudson and enjoyed a late lunch in its outdoor seating area. The staff was so friendly and the food we had including homemade minestrone soup grilled cheese sandwich and French fries was delicious. Happy #internationalwomensday and to celebrate we are highlighting this amazing historic Lower East Side family-owned business @russanddaughters which is believed to be the first shop to have ever used the words “& Daughters” in its official name as businesses were usually passed from father to son! It is now co-owned by @nikirussfederman the great granddaughter of its founder. Russ & Daughters Appetizers also has one of our favorite #neon signs in all of NYC as it not only has gorgeous channel letters in two different colors but the store’s name is also flanked by two neon whitefish in a downward dog pose. Although the shop itself dates back to 1914, the #neonsign was installed in 1951 and refurbished by @lettherebeneon in 2008.

Electrical Appliance Repair Services in Marine Park, Brooklyn is no longer in business. We loved its #vintage #handpainted #signage as well as all of the other handpainted #signs on the roll-down gate and in the windows. This store definitely harkened back to a time when people had their appliances repaired instead of just throwing them to the curb and buying new ones. Photo from 2009 appears in our newly released book STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved. If anyone is interested in a signed and/or personalized copy of the book for the holidays, please message us or email us seen in the link on our home page.
Also for the holidays: An assortment of NEW Prints Now Available.
Our limited edition signed prints range in size from 20x24 to 40x50 inches as well as a few select 11x14 prints.
All C-prints are printed on Kodak Professional Endura Lustre Paper. Contact us for pricing and more info.

La Delice Pastry Shop is a family-run bakery that has been in business since 1935. This #momandpop bakery's three-layer vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream was made famous on Tina Fey’s skit on Saturday Night Live @nbcsnl last night when she said. “I would urge people this Saturday, instead of participating in screaming matches and potential violence, find a local business you support, maybe a Jewish-run bakery or an African-American bakery. Order a cake with an American flag on it and just eat it." The cake 🍰eaten by @tina_fey_official was created by @ladelicepastryshop. Analog photo from 2004 and our interview with the 2nd-generation owner of this #bakery appear in our book "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". #storefront #signgeeks #lettering #dailytype #signcollective #everything_signage #ig_signage #typography #typevstime #weekendupdate #sheetcaking #sheetcakingisagrassrootsmovement
