Conrail Shared Assets CA-51 brings 90+ empty tank cars through Richland, NJ on the Beesleys Point Secondary. Due to a downturn in traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic, many freight cars were sent to the Cape May Seashore Line's Cape May Branch for storage. This unit tank train became part of the storage line during the springtime, and is finally going back into service after several months. Freight traffic on the BEES south of Winslow Junction used to consist primarily of unit coal trains running to the B.L England Power Plant in Marmora, but with the plant closing several years ago the line rarely sees much freight action.

Reflective of the similar post I just made regarding the old Guilford geeps, a similarly beat up C40-9W that CSX conjured up out of storage leads a heavy L072 west at Lincoln.

Once the location of a short siding, Yoho is now just a short storage track (behind me) and the section of steep mainline connecting the two Spiral Tunnels. A eastbound intermodal train grinds its way skyward on the 2.2% slope....

The dark parts of the corrugated metal plates are created by dirt and/or corrosion. I can’t tell why only these parts are affected, but I guess there’re metal crossbeams behind the plates, where they're still bright, since there’re screws/bolts. And somehow this makes a difference. But whatever the reason is, I like the almost perfect pattern that is created by those dirty/corroded parts.
Unfortunately the fence at the bottom is a distraction. Especially since the plants are so chaotic. And of course the picture would be better without it. But when I crop it out I also lose a lot of the nice shadows of the staircase, which in my opinion adds to the pic. Also the position of the door would be too low then. What do you think?...

The east end of the former Western Maryland Railway's yard in Ridgely, WVA was being used for excess car storage at the time of this photograph - August 13, 1989. The Western Maryland Railway had ceased being a corporate entity on October 1, 1983 and was formally merged into the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad which at that time was merely a component of Chessie System and only a separate railroad on paper. The WM's through freight traffic had been gradually diverted to B&O lines throughout the '70s with most of the WM's yard and shop facilities becoming redundant. By 1989, the only significant yard left was Hagerstown which served the only significant pieces of WM mainline left, namely the Lurgan and Hanover Subdivisions. Port Covington had closed the previous year. All Hanover Subdivision traffic was now diverted to the B&O's Curtis Bay yard in Baltimore.

JAS 'Rainbow Triple', right side.
An early Boeing 777 (Line No:45), this aircraft was delivered to JAS Japan Air System as JA8977 in Dec-96. JAS was merged into JAL Japan Airlines new 'Domestic' division in Apr-04.
In Oct-06 the domestic division was merged into Japan Airlines International and in Apr-11 the 'International' was dropped from the titles and the company became Japan Airlines once again.
The aircraft was withdrawn from service in Jan-20 and stored at Tokyo - Haneda. It was ferried to Victorville, CA, USA in Aug-20 for further storage.
In Sep-20 it was sold to the Midwest Aviation Group and moved to Kansas City, MO, USA where it was permanently retired. The aircraft was transferred to Alta Airlines Holdings in Nov-20 and is being used as a spares source. Updated 28-Aug-22.
