www.recyclart.org/2012/02/refurbished-stool/

The Refurbished series is an attempt to give discarded furniture a new life. In the very same way one could renovate an armchair upholstery, a&ré design proposed to rebuild around still-undamaged legs from chairs that were being trashed away. The new seating is made of concrete cast directly atop the existing elements, thus creating an entirely new object combining the values of vintage furniture and craftsmanship.

Sorry really not having much time for Flickr at the moment. Not even getting a chance to look at photos never mind comment. Been making my first wooden stool with much help from Leo Norris and the ultra cool Jordan. Quite pleased with how my first attempt at hand carving has come out..of course it had to be a wee bird...jenny wren!!!! The seat is from elm whilst the legs are made from Chestnut.

May date from 674 when Wilfred founded the Monastery in 674. Hexham was a cathedral between 678 and 821 and during that period may have been the Bishop’s seat.

Smooth, sexy curves on these nicely-finished stools!

Here's a twist on our previous dipped pieces--we used metal stools as a starting point rather than wood. The results look great and we have been using the stools (the unpainted base models) in the store and loving them.

Soon, the tourists will start bringing their own stool to sit on. The light here takes forever to turn green.
