The elephant to whom this foot originally belonged went on a rampage in the city, so the then-king of Bangalore shot and killed it, before turning it into furniture (four stools like this, a lamp-stand from the trunk, and a wall-mounted head).

The household furniture of Bohol is known for blending quality hardwood, sturdy carpentry and whimsical design. This stool exemplifies the folk sensibility that has been evinced in Santos, altar furniture and other highly coveted objects from the island. This stool features a six-sided seat and curved cabriole legs. Carved in high relief around both seat and legs are oval “butones” or buttons that add a folksy decorative touch to the piece.

Stool revolving with five-spoke aluminum base with feet, adjustable height by gas-lift mechanism, according to DIN 4550 regulation.
This is a stool I've been working on the last few weeks. My goal is to assemble a stool together using thermoforming, and through this, eliminate the need for fasteners. By using what would normally be considered "consequences" of vacuum-forming, the undercuts and trapping of wood add to it's structure. Photograph courtesy of Kuan Tong.
