This pub is co-owned by TV Presenter, James May, who lives nearby. Together with his business partner they rescued the pub from closure.

The pub is a pleasant place to visit & serves decent food.

A few months back we did the mountain road drive from the Elan Valley .....over the Cambrian Mountains to Aberystwyth.....on our way we went past to old Cwmystwyth mine workings .....there is evidence of mine working from as long ago as the Bronze Age in this location .....mining for Zinc,Silver and Lead....the mine finally closed in 1940......what a place to visit

Here's another view of the stone ruin of a colonial building. It would date from no later than the 1850s I'd imagine. The chances of it being restored are sadly remote. It is on the Blessington Road (not a major thoroughfare) in the little hamlet of Burns Creek. And it would take lots of money to restore it to some semblance of former glory.

The opinions of scholars disagree as to the origin of Mission Espada’s irregularly arched doorway design. Is it Moorish? Why do some of the stones seem to be misaligned?

Mission Espada is one of four missions that comprise San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in Texas.

Castle Drogo

Built between 1911 & 1930, Castle Drogo was the last castle built in England.

Possibly, if it had not been because I have friends who are originally from this village, I had never visited, since neither is touristy and has nothing to stand out.

Since we were the whole gang of friends, I had not too much freedom to look for rustic corners. If I want to photograph freely, I have no choice to go alone.

Most of its buildings are made of stone, but the small number of inhabitants, a little bit more than 60 people, does not allow excessive squandering in their conservation.

Somewhere, there must be someone with the title of Count of Savallá, but with castle in ruins and the rest almost, I do not believe he claim their possessions. Honestly, nothing invites all to stay.

One of the few nooks that I liked and I could photograph is this tiny church square.

I have two versions in black & white and color, but thanks to the advice of my good friend Miquel Gonzalez, I decided to upload this intermediate version. I hope it is to your liking.

Sinceramente, nada invita a quedarse.

Old Gang Smelting Mill is one of best preserved lead mining complexes in the Pennines. Constructed in the 1840s, it replaced an earlier mill on the site. After 1885 production declined dramatically.

The Old Gang mill was one of the largest in the area, the mill is shewn on the first edition of the O.S. 1/10560 sheet for the area, which was surveyed in 1854.

The mill smelted in small way until at least October 1899, and possibly until 1903. By 1913,

The mill was named after the nearby Old Gang beck, and is surprisingly well-preserved - the chimney is still completely intact. Rusting machinery can still be seen.

Galaxidi is a very picturesque seaside town in the prefecture of Fokida and therefore attracts many tourists during the summer months. It shows a particular architectural interest as most of the settlement consists of brick captain mansions with clear European influences. It is an example of the great and rich nautical tradition of the place in both the economic and the war sectors since Galaxidi's participation in the Greek liberation struggle of the of 1821 was more than significant.

The Cathedral Church of Saints Asaph and Cyndeyrn, commonly called St Asaph Cathedral / Eglwys Gadeiriol Llanelwy, is a cathedral in St Asaph, Denbighshire, north Wales. It is the episcopal seat of the Bishop of St Asaph. The cathedral dates back 1,400 years, while the current building dates from the 13th century. The cathedral is part of the Church in Wales and part of the Anglican Communion of Wales.

A long journey behind the culture and history.

St. Nicholas Parish Church, Moreton

The church is world famous for the engraved glass windows by Sir Laurence Whistler & for the grave of Lawrence of Arabia in the nearby cemetery.

Ardvreck Castle is a castle, now ruinous, standing on a rocky promontory in Loch Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, UK. The structure dates from about 1490 and is associated with the then landowners, the Macleods of Assynt.

This is the beautiful harbour of the Aberdeenshire coastal town of Portsoy...the first harbour here was built in 1692 and this newer one was built in 1825..... its claim to fame is it was the location for the filming of the 2016 re-make of the film Whisky Galore staring Eddie Izzard....the original film was shot in 1949 and was based on a true story about a cargo ship full of whisky running around in the Outer Hebrides and the locals salvaging the whisky and the governments attempt to take it back ....easy viewing and worth a watch ....the photograph here was taken 22-06-2019 at the time of the Portsoy festival .....it was much busier that it look sand was a great day out

Ardvreck Castle was attacked and captured by the Mackenzies of Assynt in 1672. In 1726 they replaced it with the more modern Calda House, apparently recycling some of the stone from Ardvreck Castle when they did so.

Calda House burned down in 1737 and before the Mackenzies were able to rebuild it, their estates had been seized by the Crown for their support of the losing side in the 1745 uprising. It has remained a ruin ever since.

I can't help but think this looks like gallows.
