View of St George's Island and the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks

September 2026 and we went back to the north Wales island of Anglesey for a week...a beautiful place and well worth a visit. We did the rounds of our favourite places to visit and a few new ones ...St Cwyfan's was always going to be on that list. This medieval church dates back to the 12th century with some renovations done in the 19th century...Still in use it can be booked for wedding and baptism..there is a causeway to the right of this photo that does get flooded at certain high tides...no high tide when we were there but I managed to get a high vantage point and cut out the foreground and give some feel of what it would look like at high tide

Day 26

Stow on the Wold - on a busy day...? Good Friday....

For me Aberdovey is the prettiest town on the coastal road along the Mid Wales area of Cardigan Bay .Behind me as I take this photograph is the main street of pastel coloured shops and houses that over look the beach and estuary .I have been taking my kids here since the early 1980s and now grand kids here every year for days out and now they take their kids here ...a wonderful family tradition

Another holiday destination on our summer trip to Cornwall. One day, we drove to the west coast and visited a succession of former tin mines, now maintained by the National Trust as part of the UNESCO world heritage. I took this picture at the Levant mines, not far from the Botallack mines (upload from yesterday). The cliffs surrounding the former engine houses looked almost post-apocalyptical with rocks, minerals and ancient brick work strewn about. To accentuate that atmosphere I used some dried out clay puddle as my foreground for the ruins. A fascinating area to explore for sure and we brought home some nice pieces of what looks like volcanic rock and some nice fragments of quartz.

Fan vaults: designed between 1351 and 1377 by Thomas de Cantebrugge, they are the earliest surviving

St George's Hall is a building on St George's Place, opposite Lime Street railway station in the centre of Liverpool, England. Opened in 1854, it is a Neoclassical building which contains concert halls and law courts, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. On the east side of the hall, between it and the railway station, is St George's Plateau and on the west side are St John's Gardens. The hall is included in the William Brown Street conservation area.

In 1969 the architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsnerexpressed his opinion that it is one of the finest neo-Grecian buildings in the world, although the building is known for its use of Roman sources as well as Greek. In 2004, the hall and its surrounding area were recognised as part of Liverpool's World Heritage Siteuntil its revocation of World Heritage status in 2021. The Liverpool Register Office and Coroner's Court have been based in the hall since 2012. [Wiki]

The photo shows two of the most historic buildings of Trikala and especially of the traditional district of Varousi:

1. The Holy Church of Panagia Episkepseos, one of the oldest in Trikala, which also functioned as a Metropolitan Church.

The current church began to be built on March 26, 1863 and was completed on April 29, 1867, while in 2008 its extensive and completely successful renovation was completed.

2. The building of the 4th Primary School of Trikala with a year of construction in 1874 and since then uninterrupted operation.

St. Peter's Church, Stourton

Mission Espada was established by Franciscans in 1690 by Spain in east Texas. After devastating losses from epidemics and threats of hostile attacks, the mission relocated in 1731 to present-day San Antonio, Texas, in what was then known as northern New Spain. The purpose of the mission was to convert local Native Americans to Christianity and to solidify Spanish territorial claims in the New World. Today, the structure is one of four missions that comprise San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

To grow food for the residents, the mission needed access to water, but the climate around San Antonio is quite arid. After the move to San Antonio in 1731, work began right away to divert water from the San Antonio River. The work, completed in 1745, included a dam and acequia (aqueduct) eventually irrigating 3,500 acres (14 square km) of land. The acequia still carries water today.

In 2015, along with The Alamo, Mission Espada became one of five missions along the San Antonio River designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Lyveden New Build

Not a ruin but an Elizabethan summer house that was never completed. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham, the building remains incomplete & virtually unaltered since his death in 1605.

Fort La Latte has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1925. And since 1931, it has been restored and maintained by the Joüon des Longrais family who have managed to preserve all of its attributes: drawbridge, walls, dungeon, dungeons, war machines and medieval garden.

In one of my recent and lonely excursions testing cameras and different lenses, I went to Moià, the capital of Moianés, which is a newly created region. More exactly in 2015 and by popular vote.

It is a city that has been known since before the year 1000 and is an amalgam of new and old buildings well preserved and with winding streets with slopes breaks legs since it is located on a hillside.

I decided to edit this street because there was no car that would ruin it and because its buildings are really old without modern reconstructions.

The edition with discrete and blurred colors applied smoothly on the black and white version make it different from my more classic versions.

I was looking for something different, but I do not know if I have succeeded.

When there is no longer enough space at the bottom, the space is made upwards and wider.
