A few years ago, as the sun was setting on the Playa, I saw something wonderful.

It was a group of 5 naked people in their 50’s, hoola-hooping on the roof of a huge RV.

As the sun slipped behind the mountains in that magical way it does, the group of loose-skinned revelers began enthusiastically singing the national anthem.

At first I started to chuckle.

Then I realized they were singing with the utmost reverence.

And I was struck.

While some would argue that this was everything wrong with America.

To me, that moment embodied the very heart of my national pride.

This dirty, genital-jangling, off-key, ‘kick-in-the-teeth-to-the-status-quo' serenade might be judged harshly or even incite hatred by the mainstream…but, by god, we’ve got the right to do it.

THAT is Freedom.

THAT is what the American Dream means to me.

These stickers were inspired by the 'fan death syndrome" in Korea . The writing means "caution."

I use PoGo sticker prints for journal purposes on my Moleskine notebooks but unfortunately they add too much bulk to the pages for my liking.

Therefore I tried to make the stickers a bit thinner by peeling just the picture part apart from the actual sticker part of the print.

I used two-sided tape to stick the picture part to my Moleskine and the photo is now almost two times thinner than it used to be as a sticker. Hopefully now my Moleskine won't bulge that much after some use and journaling :)

Sticker art (also known as sticker bombing, sticker slapping, slap tagging, and sticker tagging) is a form of street art in which an image or message is publicly displayed using stickers. These stickers may promote a political agenda, comment on a policy or issue, or comprise a subcategory of graffiti.

Sticker artists use a variety of label types, including inexpensively purchased and free stickers, such as the United States Postal Service's Label 228 or name tags.

Even if there were various unknown pioneers before, the first officially recognized example of sticker art in the USA is André the giant has a posse by Shepard Fairey, created in 1989. The first European (and non-American) sticker art project is I Sauri, started in 1993. Since 2000, many graffiti artists and street artists, like Katsu or Barry McGee incorporated stickers in their production, using them as an alternative to tagging and bombing, or as autonomous art projects.

Label 228s are often used with hand-drawn art, and are quite hard to remove, leaving a white, sticky residue.

Sticker artists can design and print thousands of stickers at low cost using a commercial printing service or at home with a computer printer and self-adhesive labels.

Sticker artists also print their designs onto adhesive vinyl, which has a strong, permanent adhesive, is waterproof, and generally fade resistant. A variant type of adhesive vinyl, called "destructible", is used by some artists. Destructible vinyl decals are primarily used as tamper indicators on equipment and shipping containers. The difficult–to–remove nature of this material is attractive to sticker artists, including B.N.E. and Obey Giant.

Artist Cristina Vanko refers to her "I am Coal" project as "smart vandalism." Vanko uses stickers to identify objects that are coal powered, spreading awareness of global climate change.

The artist Cindy Hinant created a series of projects from 2006 to 2009 that combined the tradition of sticker collecting and sticker bombing in works that reflected on feminine representations in popular culture.

Sticker artists often trade their work with each other in order to expand distribution. An artist's stickers may be distributed worldwide and end up adhered in places they themselves have never been to. These trades are sometimes arranged personally or through social networking sites.

This is a sticker sheet that my kiddos asked for. I drew up some symbols on a shipping label, and they colored them in to create their own stickers. I think it turned out pretty freakin' awesome! I dig it.

Showing off two of my favourite lenses :D (Don't tell that to the 50mm 1.8 that took the photo shhhhh)

I was finding that a lot of my photography gear was blending in once in my bag, its all very dark & boring looking, so with the help of some stickers I've "blinged" my lens hoods up a bit hehe :D ooooooh yeh!!!

Canon 2.8 60mm Macro is represented by the space invader & my Sigma 10-20 currently is representing "Adam Bomb" the awesome logo created by the clothing brand "The Hundreds"

Should stand out a lot more now :D

These stickers have popped up due to the recent partial shutdown of Minnesota's state government due to a budget crisis. Governor Tim Pawlenty (or as I've heard him called "Less Plenty") made a pledge of no new taxes, so he's vetoed a few proposed budgets. The government is running again, for now, but we're still facing a budget impasse.

Stickers to color ( or already colored ).

I drew these stickers for my 4 yo grandson to color!

His Mom tells me he crossed out two of them and didn't color anything but the lips on the others. Oh well, when I ask him which ones he X'ed out, he said the monster picking his nose, "that's yucky" ( I thought he would love that one) and the one holding the sign, "he just didn't like it". Kids, gotta love them.

Anyway, I went back and digitally colored them myself - someone should have some fun. They are here in both the colored and the "color them yourself" version. They are set to print on the 2 1/3 by 3 3/8 name badge labels that are 8 per sheet; 10 sheets in a pack, from the dollar store. (Supposedly comparable to Avery 5895.) I just bought them 'cause they were really cheap. If you put the gray corners of the jpg's at the VERY EDGE of your paper, they should print in the middle of each label. Feel free to print them out and use them however you want (you can even cross out the guy picking his nose if he's too yucky for you.) Best Regards - Jacque D.

Fun stickers I found while thrifting. Came with a Barbie Coloring Book. Love the illustrations.
