This chart averages the time spent videogaming per month for the years 1998-2004 and then compares that to the time spent videogaming per month for the year 2005.
On February 22, 2005 I received my pre-ordered copy of Gran Turismo 4. The following month I netted over 4000 minutes videogaming, which comes second only to July 2001, when I was playing both FInal Fantasy VIII and Gran Turismo 3.
The SiteBrite will display various patterns indicating site statistics in our den/office. The video shows a test pattern spinning slowly; any arbitrary pattern of 16 RGB colors can be rotated at an arbitrary speed. There is some fading between each position. The SiteBrite is constructed with 16 ShiftBrite RGB modules in a vacuum-formed diffuser mounted on a 14" clock base. Control is currently an Arduino, will be migrated to a dedicated AVR.
Hampi (Kannada: ಹಂಪೆ Hampe) is a village in northern Karnataka, India. It is located within the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Predating the city of Vijayanagara, it continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple, as well as several other monuments belonging to the old city. The ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi. According to statistics of 2014, Hampi is the most searched historical place in Karnataka on Google.
ETYMOLOGY
'Hampi traditionally known as Pampa-kshetra, Kishkinda-kshetra or Bhaskara-kshetra is derived from Pampa, which is the old name of the Tungabhadra River on whose southern banks the city is built. The name "Hampi" is an anglicized version of the Kannada Hampe (derived from Pampa). Over the years, it has also been referred to as Vijayanagara and Virupakshapura (from Virupaksha, the patron deity of the Vijayanagara rulers).
HISTORY
The emperor Ashoka's minor rock edicts in Nittur & Udegolan (both in Bellary district) leads one to believe that this region was within the Ashokan kingdom during the 3rd century BCE. A Brahmi inscription & a terracotta seal dating to the 2nd century CE were also discovered from the excavation site.
The first historical settlements in Hampi date back to 1 CE.
Immediately before the rise of the Vijaynagara kings, the region was probably in the hands of chiefs of Kampili, now a small town, 19 km east of Hampi.
Hampi formed one of the core areas of the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire from 1343 to 1565, when it was finally laid siege to by the Deccan Muslim confederacy. Hampi was chosen because of its strategic location, bounded by the torrential Tungabhadra river on one side and surrounded by defensible hills on the other three sides.
The site is significant historically and architecturally. The topography abounds with large stones which have been used to make statues of Hindu deities. The Archaeological Survey of India continues to conduct excavations in the area, to discover additional artifacts and temples.
GEOGRAPHY
Hampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. It is 353 km from Bangalore and 74 km away from Bellary. Hosapete (Hospet), 13 km away, is the nearest railway head. Mantralayam, which is also on the banks of Tunghabhadra, in AP is some 150 km away.The principal industries of the village are agriculture, the support of the Virupaksha temple and some other local holy places in the vicinity, as well as tourism. The annual Vijayanagara Festival is organized by the Government of Karnataka in November.
Due to the presence of several mineral deposits in this region (iron-ore, manganese), mining has been done for a number of years. A recent boom for the supply of iron-ore in the international market has led to increased levels of mining in this district. Some feel that the World Heritage Site at Hampi as well as the Tungabhadra Dam is under threat as a result.
ARCHITECTURE
The city of Vijayanagara was originally encompassed by seven lines of fortifications. These fortifications had a large number of bastions & gateways. The seventh & the innermost fortification enclosed the main city & is the best preserved. The extant monuments of Vijayanagara or Hampi can be divided into Religious, Civil & Military buildings. While most of the monuments at Hampi are from the Vijayanagara period, a small proportion may be assigned to pre-Vijayanagara times. The Jain temples on Hemakuta hill, the two Devi shrines & some other structures in the Virupaksha temple complex predate the Vijanagara empire. The earliest amongst them, the Shaiva shrines with their stepped pyramidal vimanas or superstructures, date to the early Chalukyan period around ninth-tenth century AD.
RELIGIOUS BUILDINGS
Hampi has various notable Hindu temples with some vedanta mythology inside the temples, some of which are still active places of worship. Among the most notable are:

- Chandramauleshwara Temple
- Malyavanta Raghunathaswamy temple was constructed in the ancient style of architecture, the temple of Malyavanta Raghunathaswamy stands 3 km down the road. Its inner walls flaunt peculiar and interesting motifs of fish and marine creatures.
- Hazara Rama Temple Complex: This ruined temple complex is well known for elaborate frescoes from the Hindu religion and a sprawling courtyard well-laid with gardens. It is well known for more than many thousand carvings & inscriptions on & in the temple depicting the mighty story of Ramayana. It has about 1000 carvings & inscriptions depicting the story of Ramayana.
- Hemakuta group of temples
- Krishna Temple Complex: This temple complex has been recently excavated through the last decade, and restoration work is still in progress. The temple has the Sacred Tank or the Pushkarani located on its eastern side.
- Vittala Temple Complex:
This is perhaps the most famous and well-known among the ruins of Hampi. The iconic stone chariot in the vicinity of this temple complex is a symbol of Karnataka Tourism. Off late, floodlights have been installed in the temple complex that provide illumination at dusk, thereby adding to the grandeur of the architecture.
The temple houses the famous musical pillars. The British wanted to check the reason behind this wonder and so they had cut two pillars to check anything was there inside the pillars that was producing the sound. They had found nothing but hollow pillars. Even today we can see those pillars cut by the British.
The road leading to the temple was once a market where the horses were traded. Even today we can see the ruins of the market on both the sides of the road. The temple contains the images of foreigners like Persians selling horses.

- Virupaksha Temple known as the Pampavathi temple, it is an ancient temple situated in the Hampi Bazaar. It predates the founding of the Vijayanagara empire. The temple has a 49 m high tower at its entrance. Apart from Shiva, the temple complex also contains shrines of the erotica statues Bhuvaneshwari and Pampa.

Château Lake Louise
The 550-roomed Château Lake Louise is a Fairmont hotel on the eastern shore of Lake Louise, near Banff, Alberta.
The Château's Initial Years
The hotel was first conceived by Canadian Pacific at the end of the 19th century, as a vacation destination to lure travellers into taking trains and heading West.
By the time aeroplanes and automobiles had displaced the trains, it had gained sufficient renown to have a life of its own.
The Painter Wing, built in 1913, is the oldest existing portion of the hotel.
The hotel's wooden Rattenbury Wing was destroyed by fire on the 3rd. July 1924, and was replaced by the current Barrot Wing one year later.
The natural areas around the hotel were incorporated into Banff National Park, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Winterisation
Originally built to function only in summer, the hotel was winterized in 1982, and now offers all the regular ski resort facilities during the winter months.
In addition to the usual skiing, ice skating and snowboarding, there are sleigh rides, ice sculpture contests and snowshoe excursions.
The Mount Temple Wing, opened in 2004, is the most recent wing, and features modern function facilities including the Mount Temple Ballroom.
Dining Options
The Château Lake Louise holds seven dining options. These include Fairview, Lakeview Lounge, Wallister Stube, Château Deli, Poppy Brasserie, Alpine Social (formerly the Glacier Saloon), and the seasonal Italian cuisine kitchen Lago.
Lake Louise (Alberta)
Lake Louise (named Ho-run-num-nay (Lake of the Little Fishes) by the Stoney Nakota First Nations people) is a glacial lake within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
The lake is located 5 km (3.1 mi) west of the Hamlet of Lake Louise and the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1).
Lake Louise is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848–1939), the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria, and the wife of the Marquess of Lorne, who was Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883.
The turquoise colour of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake.
The lake has a surface area of 0.8 sq. kilometres (0.31 sq. miles), and is drained through the 3 kilometre long Louise Creek into the Bow River.
Moraine Lake and Lake Agnes are also accessible from Lake Louise.
Activities Associated With Lake Louise
A variety of hiking trails exist around the lake. Hiking trails include trips to Saddleback Pass, Fairview Mountain (2,744 metres, 9,003 feet), Mirror Lake, Lake Agnes, Big Beehive, Little Beehive, Devils Thumb, Mount Whyte, and Mount Niblock. Some of these trails are open to mountain biking and horseback riding.
The surrounding mountain faces offer opportunities for rock climbing. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities during summer, and a boat launch and rental facility are maintained on the north-eastern shore.
The area is however plagued by traffic jams and parking shortages due to out-of-control tourism.
The nearby Lake Louise Ski Area, formerly known as Lake Louise Mountain Resort, offers amenities for alpine and Cross-country skiing, as well as heli-skiing and snowboarding.
The lake can be used for ice fishing and ice skating in winter, while the surrounding area offers settings for snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice climbing.

An East Leeds boundary fielder finds respite from a strong breeze at Gildersome Sports Club during his side's seven-wicket win over Gildersome & Farnley Hill in Covid Division Three of the Bradford Premier League.
Electing to bat on a largely cloud, breezy afternoon, Gildersome & Farnley Hill were feeble. Only opener and captain Richard Bedford (28) stuck around for any length of time. Extras (13) was the next best score. East Leeds skipper Shamoon Mushtaq (3-13), Ben Wilkinson (3-16) and Abid Tarvas (3-28) did the damage.
Openers Zahid Tarvas (26) and Dean Atkinson (24), the wicketkeeper, put on 49 for the first East Leeds wicket. Ben Clay took 3-31 but blotted his copybook by conceding a number of extras (wides and a no ball). The wayward medium pacer had a couple of overs that extended to nine deliveries.

The Gildersome and Farnley Hill cricket clubs joined forces in summer 2017. Farnley Hill were struggling at their former base, a pretty if tiny ground adjacent to the Greyhound pub in nearby Tong. Gildersome, whose traceable history goes back to 1873, have played most of their cricket in the Leeds and Central Yorkshire leagues. The latter merged with the Bradford League in 2016. Farnley Hill (whose origins have a link to their village's Methodist church) were members of the Dales Council's 'A' Section. They joined the Dales Council in 1969. Gildersome Sports Club, off the A62 and two minutes from Junction 27 of the M62, is owned by the cricket club. In the 1950s, Gildersome CC were given the title deeds to the ground by a local family who had a big interest in cricket and were keen to preserve the well-being of the village club. Gildersome Spurs, a junior football club, are also based at the site.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Salzburg and the Department of Statistics of the Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt organized the conference in collaboration with the "Methodenzentrum Versuchsplanung" of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), the Department of Statistical Modelling of Saint Petersburg State University and INFORMS Simulation Society (USA).
This international conference is devoted to statistical techniques in stochastic simulation, data collection and design and analysis of scientific experiments and studies representing broad areas of interest.
The 1st- 6th Workshops took place in St. Petersburg (Russia) in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2009. The Seventh International Workshop on Simulation took place in Rimini in May 2013, the Eighth Workshop took place in Vienna in September 2015, and the Ninth one in Barcelona in June 25-29 2018.

Introducing Martin. This set of photos was taken on the 18th January 2021 and represents my first Stranger portrait set of 2021.The UK has been in a further lockdown since the 26th of December and I hadn't ventured out with the camera at all. We have the worst Covid 19 statistics for deaths in Europe so January has been the hardest month of the Pandemic so far.
I have had a personal battle in my own mind as to whether I should be walking out with a camera . Feelings of guilt, but
several reasons make me carry on . Firstly people do seem to genuinely want to talk . Many people are lonely and are only too keen to get out for exercise and chat for a little while. Secondly perhaps in a tiny way documenting a little of the lives of strangers in Suffolk may be of social interest to people in the future. Thirdly it never ceases to amaze me that in 2020/21 people living or visiting Bury St Edmunds come from all over the World. One of the greatest things about being in the EU was the freedom of movement which has now been been lost following brexit. Perhaps the diversity ive picked up in talking to strangers will be be lost by anyone doing this is in say 10 years time.
Anyway in a deserted shopping centre I saw Martin enjoying a coke on a bench. I stopped to talk to him as I did my 10k steps. Martin lives near Mildenhall a very small Town about 17 miles from Bury St Edmunds. He had come into Bury really for a change and a bit of life . Although Bury is quiet Mildenhall is very quiet and lonely. So sitting on a bench in a shopping centre that is all closed was better than nothing.
Martin is out of work doesn't know what he will do in the future. His immediate plans are to just get through the Pandemic which he is worried about. I left him to catch a bus home.

The Challenge
Salzburg Global Seminar (www.salzburgglobal.org) was founded by young people in 1947 to challenge present and future leaders to solve issues of global concern. Nearly 70 years later, a top priority facing societies in and beyond Europe concerns youth and their economic prospects. Statistics on the true cost of youth unemployment for the global community are hard to come by but one thing is clear. For societies and individuals to prosper and flourish, systems innovations will be needed to equip all young people with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to achieve their potential and perform the jobs of the future.
Strategies for Today:
Austria and Germany have long-standing dual systems of vocational education and worker training and enviably low levels of youth unemployment. In today’s global knowledge economy, is this a strategic asset that can be exported – especially to parts of the world with high unemployment and gaps in the skilled labor market? Could such systems be further improved and what would this mean for public-private sector cooperation? Do vocational educational tracks meet rising employer demands for flexibility and critical thinking?
Needs for Tomorrow:
As digitalization, robotics and artificial intelligence transform the job landscape, the future of work and the role of education will come under increasing scrutiny. With figures such as Google CEO Eric Schmidt calling for “permissionless innovation” and a “culture of creativity”, what practical approaches could boost human capital development across all sectors of society? Will future educational systems need to ‘relearn learning’ and transform teaching? Will the distinction between ‘academic’ and ‘vocational’ become outdated as part of these complex changes? What partnerships between government, research, business and technology could pave the way for tomorrow’s citizens to function in and contribute to radically different economies?
