Today I will stick to routines. Routines are safe. Routines are familiar. Routines will get me back on track.

This collection of photos is a wide range I have taken and pride myself upon, I have chosen a diverse collection of photos in terms of content, genre and idea.
Within my most recent A level Module I have explored digital and film manipulation and the idea of layering photos and concepts together, I think this is evident within some of the photos I have chosen, as they are digitally layered. Within this section of my project I have been inspired by upcoming new artist Dan Mountford, and much older and more traditional Photographer Jerry Uelsmann, although Uelsmann is much more traditional in method, I think that he is more surreal and poignant in concept.
Conversely I have included some of my more candid and natural photos that I am pleased with, I think sometimes that a simple portrait or Landscape with the detail in the beauty of the lighting is just as satisfying if not more than a complex image. Two of my favourite portrait and street photographers have greatly inspired me for many years, these being Helen Levitt and Tod Papageorge, both based in New York, a city I adore. I have great admiration for the simple lighting and black and white format of the street photos.
A couple of the photos are simple photos in technicality, but have much deeper meanings and concepts within them, For example the photo of myself gagged by the tape measure, was a simple photo set up on a tripod in my house, but the photo runs much deeper than that, it is from a mini series I did on the shocking reality of the vanity of modern society and the pressure of girls to be perfect.
Feminism and identity are themes I am particularly interested in. A photographer that inspires me through the concept of challenging Patriachy is Shirin Neshat, who’s simple yet dark images of Iranian women always move me.
Ray Schamp’s unique style of origami was influenced by his long-time interests in visual art and the sciences. Raised in Baltimore by working artists and science professionals, he emerged from his childhood with an appreciation for order, the natural world, and design. His art reflects his experiences growing up, his studies of biology at Oberlin College, and his current work as a web developer.
Schamp characterizes his style of origami as ‘corrugation’, in reference to the pleated surfaces that comprise the work. Through the development of this genre, Schamp has become involved in the greater community of origami artists, especially those who focus on the creation of repeated patterns in paper. His participation in this community has refined Schamp's understanding of his own work by challenging him to deeply explore the nuances of his technique and theory.
For Schamp, the experience of making each piece is as important as the piece itself – the art of origami lies in the evolution of the flat piece of paper into its final form. He understands his work as a form of emergence, where the end result is not pre-meditated, but is a function of the process by which it was created.
Corrugations differ from traditional origami not only because they are non-representational, but also because the role of each crease is apparent in the final piece. As described by a colleague in the origami community, “The bare bones of the fold displayed are stripped to their essentials. Here is folding from first principles…” Schamp’s work demonstrates the basic mechanics of paper, because each crease visibly contributes to the larger structure.
Teaching is a vital part of Schamp’s artistic practice. He understands origami corrugations as a medium for expressing mathematical and scientific ideas, and encourages others to do so as well. By sharing his method and philosophy of folding, he hopes to inspire artists, both within and outside of the origami community, to further explore his ideas.
Today my assistant made a statement, waving with the white pen! He thinks that freedom of speech is one of the most important things that exist today but he also thinks that the religious freedom is equally important like the free choice of political values, therefore the white pen, seeking peace and respect, without jeopardizing democracy!

The IAEA Event: Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power will highlight the crucial role of nuclear power as part of the energy mix. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi will announce the ‘IAEA Statement on Nuclear Power’ supported by 40 countries, both those already operating nuclear power plants and newcomers. Together these countries acknowledge that all available low-carbon technologies, including nuclear power, should be recognized, and actively supported. The Statement underlines the benefits of nuclear power, including that nuclear power plants produce no harmful greenhouse gas emissions; that nuclear energy contributes to energy security and the stability of power grids; and that it mitigates air pollution at a local level.

Practitioners’ Statement
This is the second pair of socks I ever knit, and my first pair of top-down heelflap socks. (My first pair was based on Wendy Johnson's old toe-up short row recipe.)
These were knit in early 2005, which I only remember because I had been thinking of giving them to Alex for Valentine's Day. That didn't happen for a number of reasons, two of which were lack of time, and lack of experience with sock sizing.
As it turns out, these would be plenty big for him in circumference, but as a sock newbie I didn't realize how much one can be fooled by apparent circumference when a sock has just been started. Alex now has two pairs of Retro Ribs. These were knit on 2.75 mm needles, as were the first pair for him. Both pairs are big on us.
I'm amazed that the Dale Baby Ull is still in one piece. Astounded, in fact. They're obviously fuzzy and pilly (though much less than I'd predict, knowing what I do now), and too big on me. But they are comfy cozy socks, and I love to wear them around the house.
And the fashion statement? Yeah, when I put the socks on this morning it was chilly in here. Now there are sunbeams.
