LAKE TAHOE NEVADA STATE PARK

Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park offers a number of different areas for visitors to enjoy. Sand Harbor is one of Lake Tahoe’s most striking sandy beaches and features a boat launch, restrooms, picnicking, group use areas, a Lake Tahoe informational center and the new Harbor House Bistro and Beach Goods concessionaire, which offers quality dining and beach-ware. Sand Harbor is also home to the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival “where for years people have relaxed on Lake Tahoe’s pristine beaches with wine and cheese and enjoyed the Bard at his best.” Sand Harbor is located three miles south of Incline Village on State Route 28.

Memorial Point and Hidden Beach, situated between Incline Village and Sand Harbor, are areas which offer outstanding views of the lake and more secluded access to its shores.

Spooner Lake, at the intersection of State Route 28 and U.S. 50, is popular for picnicking and catch-and-release fishing. It is also home to the Spooner Lake Outdoor Company, a park concessionaire that offers world-class cross-country skiing in the winter, an overnight stay in backcountry cabins and mountain bike rentals for riding miles of trails in the summer months. Spooner Lake is also a major trailhead for gaining access to the Marlette/Hobart Backcountry. The backcountry is more than 13,000 acres of forested open space with miles of hiking, equestrian and mountain biking trails. A group use area is available. Vehicles are not permitted in the backcountry, which has been designated as a state primitive area. Two of the more popular trails in this area are the Marlette and Red House Flume as well as the Tahoe Rim Trail that runs along the crest of the Carson Range.

Cave Rock, located along U.S. 50 near Zephyr Cove, is a popular spot for boat launching, picnicking, swimming and fishing.

The Texas State Capitol is located in Austin, Texas, and is the fourth building to be the house of Texas government in Austin. It houses the chambers of the Texas Legislature and the office of the governor of Texas. It was originally designed in 1881 by architect Elijah E. Myers, and was constructed from 1882–88 under the direction of civil engineer Reuben Lindsay Walker. A $75 million underground extension was completed in 1993. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. The Texas State Capitol building is 308 ft (94 m) tall. By afternoon the rain had subsided and the mockingbird was on the rocks! Here he takes a step into mid-air!!!

Mockingbird is the state bird of Tennessee!

Mockingbirds are a group of New World passerine birds from the Mimidae family. They are best known for the habit of some species mimicking the songs of other birds and the sounds of insects and amphibians, often loudly and in rapid succession.

Some types of mockingbirds are known to lay "alien eggs", or eggs that are laid in another bird's nest. Similar to the cowbird, the mockingbirds' offspring will force the other nest inhabitants from the nest, taking all the food from the parents and forcing the foster-parents to rear and fledge them.

The only mockingbird commonly found in North America is the northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos). The Greek word polyglottos means multiple languages.

Children sit outside a on grass during a meeting of displaced Cameroonians with Caritas staff in Nkame village, Akankpa local government area, Cross River State, Nigeria on April 13, 2018. Cameroonians are being hosted in Nigerian villages, many of whom fled across the border because of reported violence inflicted by Cameroonian government security forces on civilians that are suspected of sympathizing or being actively engaged in the secession movement of Southern Cameroons from the nation of Cameroon, led by the separatists group Ambazonia . They are demanding a separate state from French speaking Cameroon. Violence reached a peak in October and November, 2017 when many of the Cameroonians interviewed in the villages between the Nigerian town of Calabar and the border had fled their homes into the bush before eventually crossing over into Nigeria and seeking shelter in villages there. Two weeks previously, the Nigerian government granted registered Cameroonian individuals from the english speaking province refugee status. Once registered by UNHCR they will have freedom of movement within Nigeria for three years. With refugee status they will need to move at least 50km from the border into designated camps. As a partner of UNHCR, Caritas's role is to undertake protection monitoring; the team is conducting baseline & needs assessments within each village on a road that leads from the Nigeria/Cameroon border to the town of Calabar, Nigeria. They are gathering data on demographics, gender, age of the Cameroonians that will be utilized for the upcoming distribution of food and non food items by Caritas within the villages. They also ask the civilians what their most urgent needs which include access to clean drinking water, food, shelter, clothing, health services and schooling for children.
