My 84 year old father on his birthday when I surprise him with the fact that I have refurbished his old 1938 Standard N Fordson tractor, he had no idea from something close to scrap that he thought would never run again to a new life.

This is pretty much the standard Jazz boot area. There's no spare tyre (that space is instead used by the hybrid's battery), but the tyre repair kit should suffice, and I have various breakdown cover services available anyway.

(The newer non-hybrid Jazzes actually have a hidden compartment under the boot lining which can be used for storing various things. My old Jazz didn't have that, so I don't really miss having it. Besides, I'd gladly give that up for the hybrid's acceleration...)

Also in this image is the Velcro-secured seat back pocket that I paid extra for. More storage space is always a good thing, and this pocketed area is currently holding my jump leads and ice scraper.

"Gauge" refers to the distance between the inside edges of the rails. In the United States and much of the world, Standard Gauge is 56 1/2 inches.

The first American railroads used the track gauge common in Great Britain, called the "English Gauge", which varied between 56 and 57 inches. Subsequent railroads in different parts of the country used incompatible track gauges. Therefore, at junctions between railroads, passengers and cargo had to be transferred to different trains. In 1862, Abraham Lincoln established a de facto national standard of 56 1/2 inches. Odd trackages were re-spiked to the standard gauge by 1886.

No evidence conclusively proves how 56 1/2 inches originated. The common hypothesis is that it is related to the wheel spacing of the Ancient Roman carts.

It is hot out. Took Wesley to the pet store earlier and plan to take him to the beach later on this afternoon. I think he is just a little bored. :-)

And now, arguably the standard-bearer of Manchester's bus services since 1996 - Stagecoach Manchester. Looking from the outside in, the fall of the largest Stagecoach operation outside of London, at one time being Greater Manchester's bus operating force by hoovering up most of South Manchester's independents, has been quite simply staggering to see happening in real time. They didn’t like the rollout of bus franchising when it was first announced, and they and Rotala tried to take TfGM court over it, but in the end, Stagecoach managed to win Queens Road and Oldham garages from it and kept hold of it's Stockport services, so who's really complaining?

Fleet-wise, Stagecoach are now in a unique position here in Greater Manchester. Most of their Enviro400s have been disposed of around the group, with some Enviro400 MMCs thrown in for good effect, leaving a mix of their own vehicles and TfGM-supplied vehicles on frontline services. Besides refurbishing their existing stock, such as 11528 here, Stagecoach managed to convince the head honchos at TfGM to let them buy even more Enviro400 MMC diesels to bolster their fleet. Some might say there's too many of them now, given how some have already been disposed of to other Stagecoach operations. But I'm sure we'll go into more detail about that later.

With a cold late January sun playing havoc with reflections, Stagecoach Manchester's 11528, a 2020 ADL Enviro400 MMC, is seen heading up Corporation Street on a 99 to Prestwich.

Another view of No.80080 arriving at Sheringham on 23rd June 2025 with the 13:00 service; a crowd has gathered under the canopy at Platform 1 for a better look at the BR Standard Class 4 tank.

My first shot with the EP-1, it took this shot in a rather dark bar with great ease. Barely any noise at ISO 1600. Sensor shift stabilizer is the best I've used.
