This Daylily was dealing with the heat and humidity in a far more beautiful fashion than I was. Not a drop of sweat on it, whereas I was drenched by this time.
The sun was in full bright beaming and this flower was showing its best colors. I noticed in post processing that it was the only bloom on a green stem which had previously contained at least four other blossoms. Someone, perhaps the arborist, had trimmed off blooms, leaving this single solitary masterpiece. There were other stems with other blossoms, but this one suited my composition sense best.
I wanted to highlight that single bloom, drenched in sunlight, with the surrounding green leaves and spots of color from other flowers in the background. You can tell that this is part of a cultivated flower bed, designed for color. Just beyond these is a full bed of yellow daisies, a splash of yellow with black dots.
No matter what is around us, we have the opportunity to shine, simply by being the best at who we are.

Two standout features at Wallasey-based Ashville Football Club's Ray Parker Stadium (historically, known as Villa Park). Ashville are members of the North West Counties League's Division One South.
Liverpool artist Paul Curtis's 2023 mural, on the side of the dressing rooms block, depicts decorated World War Two veteran John Dennett MBE. The first floor flat in this building is occupied by Dennett. Along with his wife, Joyce, Dennett, now 100, established Ashville FC in 1949. The club were named after the road - Ashville Street - on which the Dennetts lived.
Dominant, from a hilltop to the east, is the Parish Church of St Hilary, a Grade II listed structure built in 1858-59.
Captured before a 1-2 Ashville defeat, in round two of the FA Vase, by the Northern Counties East League's second tier Wombwell Town. The official attendance was 170.

About 50 people engaged in an Inauguration Day Standout across from the Massachusetts State House. Spokespeople said the purpose of the stand out is to “resist the incoming administration's promises of transphobic policies and system oppression.” Participants were urged to come with a vision of justice, inclusion, and dignity for all trans people.
