The view from Over Owler Tor across Hathersage Moor to Stanage Edge and Higger Tor.

It would have been better viewed from Curbar Edge but that was the venue for a recent outing, so I stuck with Plan A: Stanage Edge.

Another shot from up on Stanage Edge in the Peak District of Derbyshire where I got lucky with this random person stood in the right place at the right time shooting a ball of light which thankfully keeps on shining!

Love it or hate it, there it is. Personally I think it's an eyesore, especially when you look at the hillside that's been destroyed, but there you are.

Another from Saturday afternoon's magical sunset. Dark clouds a tiny gap on the horizon. Magic. In the excitement I dropped a lens cap and glove and had to retrace my steps at the end.

There was just the hint of a rainbow to the left of Over Owler Tor on an evening of sunshine and sharp showers earlier this month.

An eight shot panorama image taken from the Eastern trig point of Stanage Edge.

There were quite alot of these red grouse about, it was lovely to see them. I just love the noise they make!

Stanage Edge is the longest gritstone crag. It is up to twenty metres high, but stretches for over a mile, giving around 2000 routes. It is located in the Peak District in Northern England, close to the popular climber's city of Sheffield.

We had a nice hike up to Stanage Edge and back to Hathersage. We really enjoyed the varied landscape!

Stanage Edge trig point in winter conditions

A shot from just before the New Year and trip up to Stanage Edge for sunset. I’d just missed the best light as I was a little late getting out, but this puddle in the rock always makes a good foreground and I did manage to capture some nice colour in the sky! This shot doesn’t portray just how windy it was up here. Had to have the tripod set really low just to prevent it blowing over!

Late evening light on the rocks and heather on Stanage Edge.

Thursday I was doing a photography workshop and we headed up onto Stanage Edge to capture the evening light. Initially there was a lot of cloud at higher levels but this played to our advantage when the sun stated to set giving us some fantastic colour to the sky and glorious warm crisp light spreading across Stanage and the surrounding landscape. I don’t normally include figures in my compositions but this couple out walking their dog just added a nice extra touch to my picture. Some fantastic conditions at sunset today.

It was all a bit frantic and not sure I made the most of the conditions.

This a favourite spot of mine with the almost touching rock and grouse trough no.17.

One of the drinking holes presumably for game birds on Stanage Edge.

Another image from Stanage Edge; most of the wet was due to the wind blowing streams uphill, but it was extremely windy, enough to blow you over or into puddles you were trying to avoid.
